Someone For Kane 2
chapter 45
The show got into town the next day. Glen checked into a hotel instead of going across town. What use was there. It seemed so strange. As he unpacked his bag, the ring fell out onto the bed. He sat on the bed holding it in his hand. "Where are you?" Fighting back the tears, he put the ring in a special pouch, then zipped up his bag and left for the arena.
About four that afternoon the girls came by to pick up Melissa. "Ready to go?"
"Just about. Only a couple more minutes."
"What are you going to do after the show? Are you going to go back stage?" Beth asked.
"I don't know. Part of me wants to, the other part says no, just go home, it's too late."
"What if you should accidently meet? What then?"
"I don't know. I'll just have to deal with it when the time arises."
Melissa was finally ready. They got a cab and rode to the arena. When they arrived they did the usual walking around. Melissa saw a shirt for sale with Kane's picture on it. She bought one to take home. Melissa was getting a bit tired from walking. The girls went inside and found their seats, sitting in the second row across from the announcers on the other side of the ring.
Melissa paid little attention to the matches, instead thinking of how would she react when Glen would make his entrance. According to the program, he would be wrestling the next to last match.
Glen made his entrance after his opponent. Melissa watched him as he walked to the ring. No matter how many times she saw him, it was always the same. She was in awe of his size and ability.
As he walked down the ramp, Glen was telling himself to keep his mind on his wrestling. That was all he had left, the only thing that kept his sanity.
Beth and Marsha jumped up and down. Sometimes blocking Melissa's view. "Will you two sit down! I would like to see."
"Oh, sorry."
The show was being televised, so cameras were panning the crowd. The wrestlers in the back were watching on the monitor in the lounge. The camera panned the crowd, stopping in front of the girls. One of them noticed Melissa sitting there. "Hey, Mark. Come here! Look at this!"
Mark had just cme in for a uqickl drink of water before he would be going for his entrance. Mark went over to the monitor. "Isn't that Glen's ex-fiance?" Mark took a closer look. "It is. I wonder if Glen saw her?" Mark left the lounge to get ready for his match. He saw Jim and took him to one of the other monitors. Fortunately, the camera was panning the crowd again. When the three girls were shown, he told him to bring all three of them backstage after the show.
chapter 46
The girls were getting up to leave. 'How do you feel, 'Lissa?"
"I'm okay, I guess."
"Do you want to try to go back stage?"
Melissa shook her head. "No. Let's just go."
"Excuse me, ladies, but I was told to take you backstage."
"'Lissa, do you think?"
"No, I know he didn't see me."
"If it wasn't him, then who? Well, let's follow the man." The girls followed Jim backstage to the lounge. After Melissa got comfortably seated, he left.
"I wonder if they would mind if I had something. I'm kind of thirsty," Melissa said.
"Help yourself," a deep voice said.
The girls turned around. "Hi," was all Beth and Marsha said. Mark sat at the table.
"I'll get you some juice," Marsha said and got up.
Melissa opened her mouth to speak but Mark cut her off. "Don't explain anything to me. Say it to Glen. You hurt him bad, especially when you didn't care to stay around to find out the real truth, believing what some stranger said instead. Then you disappeared without a trace. I've been around Glen for a few years. After he had met you I noticed a big change in him, a change that was for the better. He was beginning to come out of that cloistered world he lived in. For the first time he was opening up. Then when you told him that he didn't need to see his own child, that nearly drove him over the edge. Now you've decided to come back. Why? To hurt him again?"
Melissa sat there with tears running down her cheeks.
"Like I said. Don't explain it to me. Tell him. I had Jim go and tell him to come to the lounge. Hopefully you two can get things worked out one way or the other. That's all I've got to say." With that Mark got up and left.
"He didn't have to talk to you that way," Marsha said angrily.
"It's okay. He's right. I should have stayed, no matter what."
"Perhaps, but he still didn't need to, especially with you being this far along."
"When Glen gets here, I want you two to leave. This is something he and I need to talk about alone."
Glen was on his way to the lounge, wondering why.
chapter 47
Beth and Marsha were reluctant to leave, but Melissa insisted. The two girls left. As they exited, they ran into Glen. They started to go past him but Glen stopped them. "Where are you going?"
"We were told to leave."
Glen looked at the door. He thought, "Is it?" He opened the door and saw a lone figure sitting at the table. He closed his eyes, then opened them. He wasn't seeing things, she was really there. Melissa saw him as he entered, then looked down at the table, her hands beginning to tremble.
Glen walked over to the table. A mix of emotions ran through him. Relief to see she was okay; an ache in his arms to crush her to him; and hurt. It had torn him apart because she didn't have enough faith to believe him and that he was never to see his own child.
"Do you mind if I sit?" he asked softly.
"No."
For several minutes nothing was said. Both wanted to tell the other who they felt, but were unable to find the words. Glen was going to speak but Melissa spoke first.
"Glen, I know you have a lot of questions, but I need to speak while I am able. I know these words don't help any, but I have got to say them." She took a deep breath. "I'm sorry Glen. I'm sorry I hurt you. I was wrong in telling you I didn't want to see you any more. After you and the girls had left, I packed what I could put in two suitcases and went to the islands. I rented a small cottage then called the company for an extended leave of absence.
It had hurt when that woman stopped the wedding. It was even worse when you didn't deny the signature was yours. It was like our whole relationship had been a fairy tale and it was time to come back to reality. I wanted to believe you, but it hurt so bad, I thought it would be better for us to be apart. I guess I wanted to hurt you by saying you weren't obligated with our child.
While I was on the islands, I thought every day about us and what we had. I began to miss the apartment, the girls, and I began to miss you most of all. I had kept the lease on the apartment so I came back. I wanted to be here when it was time. I also came to the realization that I had been wrong in doing what I did. I should have stayed and helped you try to find out the truth."
"'Lissa, you did hurt me. Worse than I ever could have imagined. You had come into my life as an answer to a prayer. For the first time someone took me for me. You brought me out of my lonely existence and showed me how beautiful life was. You loved me for who I was, not what I could be. You and I had created a new life and were going to take that last step to completeness.
Mark and I found out the truth a few days ago. The whole thing had been an elaborate hoax to break us up. Triple H was behind it. It seems he wanted you for himself and couldn't stand the thought of me and you together. It seems an old girlfriend of his posed as a fan and got my autograph. While I was distracted, he switched water bottles and I drank one that was spiked with a knock out drug. They had taken me to a local motel and took pics of me and her on our supposed honeymoon. The justice of the peace was a phony also who could make a certificate look very real. Mark had the man and woman brought the the arena and made to confess in front of everyone and Triple H. I lost it and beat Triple H and threw him in the garbage dumpster. I knew I would have hell to pay when Vince found out, but instead, the guys backed me up. It seems this wasn't the first time he had caused trouble. This was the last straw for Vince. He took him off the list and put him in one of the farm clubs for good.
If only you had waited, 'Lissa. If only you had believed me."
chapter 48
Melissa looked at her hands, too ashamed to look at him. "You're right, Glen. If only. I guess I had better go." She slowly got up and went out the door. Glen heard the door click. Why hadn't he stopped her and told her to wait while he got his bag?
The girls saw Melissa come out. "Are you and Glen back together or what?"
"I don't know, Beth, I don't know. Let's go."
Mark saw the girls leave, seeing tears going down Melissa's cheeks. He went in the lounge. "Did you get things talked out?"
"I think so, Mark. I don't know. She explained why to me. I explained about the set up of Triple H and why he did it, adding if only she had believed me. That's when she said I was right. Then she got up and left," he said his head in his hands.
"Are you still in love with her?"
"I never stopped. I just don't know if she loves me."
"From what I saw when she left, I would guess she still does. But the only way to know is to ask her," Mark said.
Melissa told the girls good night. After taking a shower, she laid down in the bed and cried herself to sleep.
Glen opened his bag and looked in the little pouch. In it was the ring and the key to the apartment. Taking out the car keys, he picked up his bag and left.
Melissa was sound asleep and didn't hear the door open. Walking to the bedroom, Glen put the bags down. He quickly undressed and quietly slid in the bed. Getting as close as he could, he put his arm over her, his hand resting on her stomach. Kissing her lightly on the neck, he went to sleep.
Early in the morning, Melissa stirred, feeling something heavy on her. She saw an arm draped over her. She turned and saw Glen. Slowly he opened his eyes, seeing a confused look on her face. Moving his hand up her body, he traced her cheek, then leaned in and covered her mouth. This had to be a dream. "He isn't really here," she thought. The longer he kissed her, the more real he became. Melissa returned his kiss, her arms wrapped around his neck. He leaned back, his blue eyes looking into hers. "I missed you so much."
Melissa rested her cheek on his shoulder, tears trickling down her cheek. "I missed you too." She raised her head. "I'm sorry."
"'Lissa, we said what we had to say last night. I want to know, how do you feel about me?"
"I love you, Glen. I never stopped the whole time we were apart. I missed you being near me, holding me, the way you would make love to me. I want to be with you."
"I never stopped thinking of you either. When you left the lounge I knew I should have stopped you. Then I saw the key. I had to come here. This is the only place where I feel complete," he said, wiping the tears from her face.
Melissa felt a sudden kick and put her hand on her stomach. "It's the baby kicking me. Put your hand there."
Glen put his hand on her stomach. The baby moved again. Glen's eyes went wide. "I wonder what he's doing."
"Probably stretching."
"Or maybe he's telling us that we need to get back together."
"Do you think so?"
"I would say he had the right idea."
chapter 49
Melissa then got a mischievious look on her face. "Glen, you know the whole time we've gone together you've never introduced me to Kane. I want to know what the other man in my life is like. Is there any way that perhaps he could come by for a visit?"
Glen caught on. "I don't know. Maybe he could stop by for a couple of minutes."
"Please, ask him."
Glen left the room. Ten minutes later Melissa saw the door open. There stood Kane. Melissa gasped and sat up as she saw him approach the bed, then sit beside her. He looked at her for a couple of minutes. "Glen tells me you want to meet me. Why?" he asked in his gruffest voice.
"Because you are a big part of his life. I thought it would be good to know what you think of him and I together."
He looked at her swollen stomach. "May I put my hand on your stomach?" She nodded. He put his large hand over her stomach, feeling the baby move. "Glen had talked about you for a long time. Then he told me about what happened and your break up. Now it looks like you have a chance on getting back together, right?" Melissa nodded and added, "I wanted to know what you thought about it." He kept his hand on her stomach, feeling the baby move again. "This is the first time I have ever touched a woman. You don't care that I wear a mask?"
"No, Kane, I don't care. Just the way you touched me let me know you are not the monster they say you are."
"But what about my face? Nobody wants to look at it. They run away."
"I won't. I want to see you without your mask."
Glen slowly took off the mask, then hung his head to hide the scars.
"Kane, look at me. I want to see you."
Kane looked up. Melissa tenderly traced his face as if the scars were really there. Then she kissed his cheeks. "You have beautiful eyes, Kane. You have nice lips, too. Do you mind if I kiss you?"
"What would Glen say? He might not like it."
Melissa wanted to hide the smile, but kept a straight face. "We wouldn't have to tell him."
"I've never kissed a woman before."
Melissa put her hands around his face and pulled him to her. Lookingin his eyes, she softly covered his lips, then backed away.
"Is that what it's like?"
"Yes, Kane, it is."
"Kiss me again."
Melissa kissed him again, her tongue softly tracing his lips, then prying them open. Glen softly moaned as his arms went around her, returning her kiss with urgency. When they parted, Glen traced her cheek. "Glen is a very lucky man. I think I like you and him together."
"I would say it was the other way around," Melissa said.
Glen softly traced her check, his voice back to normal. "Is that how you really feel, 'Lissa?"
"Yes, Glen. I am a very lucky woman."
Glen leaned in and kissed her, then kissed her cheeks and neck. "Love me, Glen," she whispered, pulling the gown over head, and laying down.
"'Lissa, should we? We could hurt the baby."
"Please!" she begged, pushing the cover to the side.
Glen stood up and removed his clothes, then laid beside her, lighting tracing her body with his fingertips. Melissa closed her eyes as waves of pleasure washed over her. He cupped the swollen breast, bending to softly suckle. She held his head, gasping softly as he gently tugged at the nipple. His hand slowly bwent over her body, stopping to massage her stomach before going down to the soft curls, opening her legs to slip his fingers in her. Melissa reached down and circled his passion, running her hand back and forth, feeling him grow. Glen sucked in his breath. "'Lissa, I want to be in you."
Melissa turned over on her side, her back to him. Glen lifted her leg over his hip and guided himself in. Slowly he moved, not wanting to move too fast. Glen then reached around and slid his finger in her, rubbing and massaging her. "Oh, Glen!" He sped up, shaking as he came closer to release. He groaned her name as he came in her. Melissa felt him fill her as she contracted around him, her juices flowing with his.
When they had calmed down, he kissed her neck, putting his arm around her as they closed their eyes. Toward noon they woke up, Glen's hand resting on her stomach. "'Lissa, do you want to marry me?"
Melissa turned around and looked into his eyes. "Yes, I do."
Glen sat up. "Do you want to do it the way we did the first time? With everybody there?"
"I want everybody there, just like we did the first time."
"Do you think you can hold out for a few weeks?"
"That's up to the baby."
Glen put his head on her stomach. "You hear me? This is your dad speaking. Please don't come till after we're married."
Melissa laughed. "It will be something to see if the baby listens."
chapter 50
The invitations were sent out again, the ceremony being a small one as the first time. Glen stood, nervous as ever. Mark watched his friend and laughed. "Calm down, Pard."
"Yeah, calm down," he said, pacing, then turned to Mark. "You sure you have the ring?"
"It's right here. See." Mark replied, pulling it from his suit pocket. He looked at the time. "Time to go." Mark shook Glen's hand and then hugged him. The guys entered through a side door to stand before the minister. Those attending were Melissa's cohorts, but this time there were more wrestlers attending, and Vince again was there. Glen saw two guys standing the back. "Who are they?"
"Let's say they're there to keep unwanted people out. After the last time..."
"Don't remind me," Glen said.
Melissa stood in the back, ready to make her entrance. She hadn't told Beth or Marsha, but she had woke up that morning with pains in her stomach. They would come and go every so often. The pains were now coming every eight minutes. Sucking in her breath, she stood as straight as she could, determined that she and Glen were going to be married before the baby was born. After Marsha and Beth entered, Melissa entered, wearing the same gown as last time, with alterations done to fit her swollen stomach.
Glen watched as she came down the aisle. Today she seemed more radiant than ever. When she came beside him, she took his hand as they turned to the minister. As he spoke, the pains would come and go. Melissa did her best not to show it. When the minister got to the part where if anyone objected to this marriage to speak now, he looked to the back, as did everyone else. Seeing no one, everyone turned around, the minister silently sighing relief and continued on with the ceremony.
After exchanging rings and saying their vows, he pronounced them man and wife. Glen and Melissa went to kiss when she let out a loud groan and bent over. "What is it?" Glen whispered.
"It's time," she said painfully.
"Time for what?" he asked, then it hit him. "Oh, my God!"
"What is it this time?" Mark asked, shaking his head.
"We have to get her to the hospital right now! She's going to have the baby!"
"I'm telling you, I don't know about you two. If it isn't one thing, it's another! I'll get the car. Just carry her out to the front!"
Mark ran down the aisle and out the door. Glen picked her up and carried her as fast as he could. Everybody in the chapel was wondering what was wrong. The minister spoke up, saying the bride was being taken to the hospital as the baby was coming. Everybody smiled and shook their heads. This was one ceremony they would long remember. Everybody left out behind the bridal party and got in their cars to follow the limo to the hospital. They wanted to be there when the baby arrived.
Melissa was breathing fast, gripping Glen's hand hard. So hard in fact, he was beginning to wonder if he would even have one left. "Please, get me there, fast! The pains are coming every five minutes!" Mark drove as fast as he dared, not bothering to stop and taking the corners rather fast. Soon they arrived at the emergency entrance, Glen carrying her in. The staff hurriedly got her to the delivery room and prepped her.
"Glen, I want you with me," she gasped inbetween pains.
"Me? In there with you? What could I do?" he asked nervously.
The doctor quickly explained. Glen followed one of the nurses to a special dressing room and put on a srugical gown, cap and shoes. He entered just as they had her legs propped in the stirrups. Melissa gripped his hand as the doctor told her to push. "Get behind her and hold her up by the shoulders," the doctor said.
Glen got behind and held her up. When she went to push, she gripped the bed with one hand, gripped the surgical gown with the other, almost choking Glen, and pushed with all her strength. For half an hour Glen held her up while she pushed, her forehead full of sweat. "I see the head!" the doctor yelled. "One more time! Push!" Using what strength she had left, she pushed as hard as she could. With a scream the baby came out.
chapter 51(final chapter)
"It's a boy! Congratulations!"
Melissa laid back on the bed, panting, somewhat weak from the exertion. She looked to her side as the nurse was cleaning the baby. Glen stood there with tears in his eyes. After the baby was cleaned and wrapped in blankets, she gave him to Melissa who cradled the baby in her arms. Glen moved the hair back from her face, bending and gently kissing her. "You did it, 'Lissa!"
"We did it," she said.
Glen touched his son's cheek. He saw he was going to look just like him. "I'll see you when you get to your room." Melissa nodded her head.
Glen left out of the delivery room and went to the waiting area to calm down. When he got there he saw all the guests were waiting, which surprised him. "What's everybody doing here?"
"After what went on at the chapel, we all wanted to know," Mark said. "Well?"
"I have a son!" he said, as it really began to sink in.
Everyone cheered. The nurse at the station having to come over and tell everyone to quiet down. Mark slapped Glen on the back. "Congratulations! What are you going to name him?"
Glen thought a minute. "I don't know."
The gurney came by with Melissa and the baby. He and Mark followed them to the room. They put her in the bed, the baby lying quiet beside her. Melissa looked up at Glen. "Do you want to hold your son?" Glen got nervous. He had never held a baby before. "Don't be nervous." Melissa showed him how to pick him up. Glen held his son in his huge arm. The baby opened his eyes. Glen saw they were blue like his. "He's beautiful."
Glen took the baby over to Mark for him to see. "Thanks for getting her to the hospital on time." Mark looked at the baby and smiled, putting his hand on Glen's shoulder. "Glad to do it. I'm just glad we got her here in time. Any later and you and I would have been delivering him." Beth and Marsha came over, oohing and aahing over how cute the baby was. They kissed Melissa on the cheek, saying they were going home and would be back tomorrow.
"Looks like I had better get going myself. I'll be back by to see the two of you. Take care." Mark left. Glen went over to the bed and sat beside Melissa, laying the baby back in her arms. "Are you alright?"
"I'll be fine. Put your arm around me."
Glen put his arm around her, watching his son as he slept.
"Have you thought about what you want to name him?" she asked.
"I don't know."
"Would it be okay if we called him Kane?"
Glen looked at her as she smiled and nodded his head.
