Someone For Kane

chapter 1
Glen sat on the bench, waiting for the others to leave. Only when he was sure there was no one around did he remove his mask. No one knew the real reason why he wore a mask constantly.

In the wrestling ring he portrayed Kane, the victim of a fire that had killed his parents and severely burned his face, scarring him for life. He was called the "big red machine," "monster," sometimes "mental retard," as he would speak slowly. But no one could dispute his athletic ability or his strength as he would leave his opponents lying in the ring. None of his fellow wrestlers could understand why he would continue to wear a mask outside the ring. Some thought Glen was going a bit too far, thinking he was acting like his in-ring character - quiet and brooding. Some even thought he was on an ego trip.

Glen knew what they thought. At first it bothered him but eventually he learned to ignore it. At first they used to ask if he wanted to go out to have a beer. He would shake his head. Just as he had been most of his life, he preferred to be alone.

While he showered, he pictured them sitting at a bar, girls hanging all over them, wide-eyed, hoping they would get lucky. He dressed, then packed his bags, making sure before he left that his mask was on. As usual, the backstage area was empty except for the clean-up crew, the show having quickly disassembled and packed in the large semis and left.
Going out the back door, he crossed the empty lot to his car for the drive to the hotel.

When he entered his room, he laid on the bed and turned on the TV. To his dismay, it was a couple making love. He quickly changed the channel. Finding nothing on, he turned it off. He stared at the ceiling, then closed his eyes. Fortunately he had had a rough match and was tired. Soon he fell asleep. This was a good night. There were nights when he would toss and turn, unable to sleep because of the loneliness; desperately wanting someone to look at him as a person, to go beyond the mask.

CH. 2
Melissa had just received a promotion and had gone out with a couple of her friends to celebrate. She had been upgraded to position of vice president of CPM Advertising, Inc. At first she felt she didn't deserve the promotion. She had talked with the president of the company, saying she shouldn't have been promoted as there were others who had worked there longer and deserved more consideration.

The president had assured her the Board had taken every aspect into consideration. He had pulled a file from his desk and showed letters written by various clients, praising her knowledge of advertising, her promptness and her ability to handle unexpected situations that would come up from time to time. A couple of fellow employees grumbled, saying she had gotten it basically because of her looks.

Melissa was a beautiful young woman who had also been blessed with brains. She had a shapely figure, jet black hair that framed an oval face, accented with green eyes surrounded by long lashes. She was never vain about her looks, always downplaying them, telling people there were far more beautiful women than she.

Her two friends, Beth and Marsha, took her a couple of days later to a very high class restaurant as a surprise, a bottle of champagne waiting. As they toasted her promotion, they decided to spring their other surprise. Beth got up from the table for a few minutes, saying she needed to go to the ladies' room. When she returned, she was carrying a large gift-wrapped package.

"Girls, this is too much. You take me to an expensive restaurant, championed waiting, now this?"

"Open the package, 'Lissa. I think you'll like it," Beth said.

Her eyes opened wide as she pulled out a leather briefcase, trimmed in gold, with her initials done in gold.

"This is beautiful!"

"Well, being promoted calls for something better than the one you have now. Look inside."

Melissa opened the case; inside was an envelope. She looked at the girls with a questioning look. Opening the envelope she pulled out a ticket. "What is this for?"

"Well, we're taking you to a wrestling show."

"A wrestling show!"

"Yeah. The WWF is coming to town next week."

"So, what is the WWF?"

Beth and Marsha started laughing. "For someone who works in advertising, you mean you've never heard of it? What do you think we do on Monday nights? We watch wrestling. The best looking hunks are there."

"Is that all you two can think about - hunks?"

"Why not. There's no harm in that."

"So? Are you going?"

"If I don't, I'll never get any rest from either of you."

CHAPTER 3
The WWF rolled into town a couple of days ahead of time. As usual Glen arrived before the other wrestlers. After checking in amidst stares he went to the arena to get in a good workout. He was just getting through when some of the other wrestlers came in. Mark came over and sat next to Glen, doing some warm-ups with hand weights.

"Glen, I know you don't go out, but for once, couldn't you just stop being the lone wolf and try to socialize with the rest of us. They're beginning to think you're on an ego trip."

"Let them think what they want. I have my reasons for not going."

Glen got up and left. Why should they care? They're able to show their face in public, no scars to make people back away.

The girls arrived early hoping to get lucky and see some of the wrestlers enter. Melissa hung back, shaking her head as she saw her best friends go gaga when they caught a glimpse. "Come on, you two. Let's get to our seats."

After getting themselves drinks at the concession stand, they entered the arena and found their seats. The girls had been able to get good seats, sitting in the first row, right where the wrestlers would enter the ring. Beth and Marsha had their cameras ready. As the wrestlers came out, the girls would stand and take pics of them. Melissa would look at her two friends, wondering if she should have come in the first place. "Oh! Kane should be next! "Lissa you'll like this guy."

A loud bang and exploding pyros made Melissa jump. As Kane's music played, the girls had their cameras ready. Kane walked down the ramp toward the ring. Beth and Marsha jumped up and down, screaming hysterically.

"Will you two sit down! This is embarrassing!"

"'Lissa, look at him! God, did you ever see such a hunk!"

"I wish he would take his mask off."

"How can I see with you two in the way."

Beth and Marsha sat down. Melissa was finally able to see. She watched as he entered the ring. "He does have a good looking body," she thought. "Why does he wear a mask?" she asked.

"It's a part of his wrestling character. The 'story' is that he lost his parents in a fire and was severely burned, thus he wears a mask."

Melissa watched as the match progressed, amazed that someone so large moved with fluid agility

chapter 4
After the last match, the girls went to the lobby to buy a couple of souvenirs. On their way to the car, they decided to stop off at a bar and have a drink. As they sat at the table, a couple of the wrestlers came in. Beth and Marsha sucked in their breath. "'Lissa, look! It's Triple H and Billy Gunn!" Melissa watched the two men as they ordered their drinks. "Excuse me, you two. I'll be right back."

Melissa walked to the ladies' room to freshen up and had to pass the bar. As she walked by a few sets of eyes watched.
"Now that's what I call fine," Billy Gunn said.

As she returned to the table, Triple H had to comment. "Man, where did she come from?"

They saw she sat at a table with two other girls. They decided to go over and talk to the girls. "Hello, ladies, mind if we sit?"

Beth and Marsha couldn't say a word. Finally the girls nodded. The guys grabbed chairs and sat next to them. "What are you girls doing here by yourselves?"

"We were just having a drink before going home. We were at the matches tonight," Marsha replied.

"What are your names?"

"This is Marsha, Melissa, and I'm Beth. You don't need to introduce yourselves. We know who you are."

Melissa remained quiet, listening as the girls were giggling. She looked at her watch. "Girls, I'm going to catch a cab home. I've got an early appointment."

"Ah, 'Lissa, do you have to leave now?" Marsha asked. "Couldn't you stay a little while longer?"

"No, I need to get home. Besides, I believe they are much better company than me," she said with a smile.

Using the phone in the back, she called a cab, then stood outside and waited. On the way back she had the cab drop her off at the park. She really didn't have an appointment, she just wanted to be alone. She found a spot by a large fountain, listening to the splash as the droplets glistened in the moonlight.

CHAPTER 5
Glen, as usual, waited till everyone had left before showering. It was the same thing, but something else was on his mind. While on the way to the ring, he had noticed two girls jumping up and down. When they sat he noticed a dark-haired girl who sat between them. When he got in the ring he turned to look at her. Before doing his fire pyros he saw her smile. To him it was like the sun had come out.
He stepped out of the shower. "Why should I even think of her. There would be no way she would look at me."

He left the arena to drive to the hotel. As he drove he saw the park to his right. "Why not. Anything would be better than a dark, lonely room." He parked the car near the gate and started walking. While he walked, he thought back to why he wore the mask.

When he was younger, his mother had always told him that when he grew up he would be a very handsome man. He would just look at her at say, "Oh mom!" All that changed in one cruel twist. On his way home one day a gang of teenagers got him cornered and began picking on him. At the time he wasn't very tall and was a bit thin for his age. Finally one of the boys hit him for fun. He had never raised his hand in anger before, but he knew there would be no other way out. He raised his fist and punched the one that had hit him. The others then jumped on him, pounding him to the ground. One of them pulled out a knife and told the others to hold him. He struggled till he was knocked unconscious, waking up in the emergency room. The first thing he saw was his mother, tears streaming down her cheeks. He felt his face, a bandage covering one side, his eye peeping out.

When the bandages were taken off a couple of weeks later, he looked in the mirror and saw the scars. As they did not have much money, she could not afford to have plastic surgery done. She went and got a mask that covered one side of his face. When he returned to school, the kids stared at him, backing away when he approached, whispering after he had gone by.

When he had reached the age of 17, he quit school. Getting on a bus, he left with only enough money to get him a one-way ticket to a bigger city, where he felt he could lose himself in the crowd. It was hard living from day-to-day, working odd jobs and staying at a YMCA. Then he got a job working at night in a meat plant. Lifting heavy carcasses of meat every day was slowly building his body. He had also reached his growth spurt, and had shot up to almost 7 feet. In six months he was able to toss the carcasses two at a time. Most of the employees in the plant learned to stay away from the quiet, young man. Then one day one of the day workers had switched to the night shift. He had heard of Glen's ability to pick up two carcasses at a time. He looked at Glen, calling him a freak because of the mask and his size.

"Hey freak! How come you don't take your mask off? What's the matter, your mother thought you ugly!" Then the man would laugh.

Glen did his best to ignore the man. The others tried to tell him to leave Glen alone, but the more they tried, the more he taunted Glen. After a couple of months, the man got Glen alone in the locker room, a good sized couple of his buddies with him. They grabbed him from behind, pushing him up against the wall. The man came up to him. "Now, we're going to see what you look like, freak."

Glen could feel him loosening the straps. Try as he could, Glen could not free himself. The man started laughing as did his two companions. Glen felt anger going through him. With one push he knocked the two men to the floor. The leader started backing away as Glen came at him, grabbing the man and hitting him. Blow after blow Glen kept hitting him, knocking him to the cement floor. By this time, several of the other workers had heard the commotion, one of them going for the foreman. As they entered the locker room, they saw Glen on top of the man, beating him with his fists. His two cohorts were getting up, one of them grabbing a chair to hit Glen with. One of the workers quickly took the chair away. The two men ran out of there, leaving their companion at Glen's mercy. It took three others to pull Glen off the man. Picking up the mask, Glen quickly put it back on. The man lay on the floor unconscious.

The foreman came and and asked what happened. One of the workers told him what they had seen. He asked Glen to tell his side of the story. Glen told him what the man and two others had done. "This is the first time anybody has bested him. I don't condone what happened, but I'm glad somebody finally stood up to him. He's done this before." He looked at the man. "With that kind of strength and size, son, you should be doing something more than this. Perhaps you should be a wrestler."

CH. 6
Four months later, he was in training at a local wrestling school. After six months, he began doing small matches, building himself up. Glen stayed at the local level for six years, doing fairly well. A scout from the WWF happened to be in the area and caught one of Glen's matches. After talking to him, he had Glen make a tape which was sent to the home office in Connecticut. Seeing potential, he was signed up, going to one of the smaller independent federations for further training and honing of his skills. He made amazing progress and was brought up six months later to do jobber matches, wrestling at mid-carder status.

Glen worked hard and never complained. Soon he was up to full mid-card status, winning matches against some of the more established wrestlers. He took on many different characters, but always with a mask. The owner decided Glen had made good progress as he noticed Glen was beginning to be a fan favorite, and thought it was time for a new character to appear. A character that was quiet, brooding, and whose very actions bespoke of a monster. Thus, Kane was born.

Kane was the perfect character for Glen. His character would show no emotion, leaving bodies lying in the ring, and hiding behind a mask, having everyone wonder what he looked like.

His debut as Kane came at a Wrestle mania match. He was to make his appearance during the main match between Undertaker and another wrestler, causing Undertaker to lose. That was five years ago. Glen enjoyed playing Kane in the ring, as he was almost playing himself. His character caught on, getting huge pops from the fans whenever he appeared. But inside was always the loneliness, even when Glen would sign autographs, people clamoring to see him.

Glen came back to the present. He was now close to the fountain that was in the middle of the park. He went to approach, but saw a lone figure under the lights sitting near the fountain. He could see the face, but at first didn't recognize who it was. As he came closer, he saw it was the girl he had seen at the wrestling matcher earlier than evening.

Melissa got up to leave the park. As she looked up she saw a large figure standing under the lights not far from her. She wanted to scream but realized no one would really hear her. "Who are you?" she asked nervously, trying not to be afraid, realizing she had been foolish to come to the park this late by herself. "What do you want?"

"I don't want anything," he told her. "I came to be alone. I didn't realize anyone would be here this late. Why are you here? It isn't safe for a woman to be alone."

Melissa looked at the tall figure for some minutes. She thought back to the wrestling match. "You're the guy from the wrestling match tonight. I recognize the body. You wore a red mask. Kane, wasn't it?"

Glen nodded, wondering how she was able to know. "That's not my real name. It's Glen."
"For some reason, your voice sounds different," Melissa commented. "It's not raspy sounding."

"That's only in the ring," he said. "Do you mind me asking what's your name?"

Melissa calmed down a bit, seeing he had made no advance. She got the feeling she could trust him. "It's Melissa. My friends call me 'Lissa for short."

Glen kept his face turned away while they talked. "You have a good memory for only having seen me just tonight," he said.

"With the type of job I have it pays to have a good memory."

Glen stood where he was, not coming closer in case he frightened her away. For some minutes they didn't say anything.

"I guess I had better get going," she said, a little hesitant about going by him.

Glen saw her hesitation, realizing he was in her way. He moved to the side. Melissa walked past, looking back to see if he would follow, still seeing him stand by the lights. Glen watched her leave then turned back to look at the fountain.

She started for the exit, then heard footsteps behind her. She began walking faster, the footsteps also going faster. Melissa started to run, the footsteps running also. Soon they had caught up with her, a hand grabbing her arm, another covering her mouth. She could hear heavy breathing. She struggled to get away as she was begging dragged off the sidewalk . She stomped on the unseen assailant's foot. The man yelled, letting go for a few seconds. She started to run again but was caught, then thrown to the ground, a hand covering her mouth. "Now lie still. This won't take long."

The man let out a yell as he found himself pulled up and thrown to the ground. He went to attack but saw a huge masked figure in front of him. Getting up he ran out of the park.

Glen had seen the man come from behind some bushes and start to follow her. He had arrived just in time. He turned to a dazed Melissa. "Are you okay?"

Melissa saw it was Glen. "I'm okay," she replied as he helped her up. "Thank you."

"No thanks are necessary. Are you sure you're okay? Perhaps I had better take you home."

Melissa didn't refuse. They drove the few blocks to her apartment, escorting her to the door. Glen made sure to keep his face turned.

"This is where I live. Thank you again for rescuing me. Would you like to come in for a few minutes?"

"No, thank you. I leave tomorrow so I need to get a few hours sleep. Good night."

Glen made sure she was in the building before getting back in his car. When he got to his room, he undressed for bed. He couldn't believe he had actually met and talked to her. He knew he would never forget her name, but knew he would never see her again.
Melissa entered her apartment, still a bit shaken by the incident. The phone rang. It was Beth.

"'Lissa, where were you? We tried calling but got no answer!"

"I stopped at the park for a few minutes."

"At this time of night? What possessed you to do that?"

"I don't know. I just felt like it. Besides, nothing happened."

Melissa decided not to mention the incident or meeting Glen. She knew she would hear "I told you so's" for at least a week. She told them good night and undressed for bed. She thought to the conversation at the fountain. It had been fortunate that he had been there. "He acted rather peculiar," she thought. "Like he didn't want someone to see his face." She showered and laid in the bed. This had been a strange night.

Glen went to the next town, his life back to the same routine, except this time he would think of her. Why hadn't he thought to ask her last name. "Perhaps it was just as well," he thought.

Chapter7
Melissa soon adjusted to her new position. She did find herself as busy as ever although she didn't have to worry about coming in at a certain time, enjoying the idea of getting an hour or two of extra sleep. After being in her position for six months, she got a memo wanting her to fly out to San Diego to look over the new office they were planning to open, being told she would be spending at least a month. Getting her things together, she booked a flight which left a couple of days later. She settled into a beach house about ten minutes from the office. She stood on the balcony, looking at the ocean. The sunset was a beautiful blend of reds and yellows. The reds reminded her of a tall man with a mask. "He must have made quite an impression for you to remember him," she said to herself. She began to wonder where he was and what he was doing.

Chapter 8
The WWF was heading to San Diego to do a PPV. Most of the wrestlers were flying in. Glen had left from Phoenix a couple of days ahead for the drive to San Diego. He enjoyed driving as it always gave him time to think and relax. He kept a beach house there which was his favorite retreat.

Melissa had worked with the manager for a couple of weeks. Things were shaping up faster than expected. She could have left after two weeks but called to say she wanted to stay a while.

Glen pulled up to his beach house, glad to be home. Here he could enjoy his solitude with long walks on the beach, always at night and not worry about the stares. As he was unloading he saw the house next to him was occupied.

Melissa had justed finished eating and was watching TV when she saw a commercial about the WWF PPV. She saw a familiar face. "So he's going to be here." She called information asking for the local ticket office. She found out the schedule and prices, finding there were still ringside seats available. After ordering, she wondered if he would even faintly remember her. It had been over six months.

CH.9
Glen got up early the next morning for his daily workout, going for a short run along the beach before too many people were up. While he ate breakfast, he looked his schedule over, seeing he was to make an appearance later that morning and sign autographs. As he had time, he did his laundry, then showered and dressed in his ring attire for his session.

Melissa got up, taking her breakfast on the patio. She looked over the schedule. "Hmm, he's signing autographs this morning. Looks like I had better get ready."

When she arrived, she found the line forming already. Picking up her ticket, she got herself in line for the long wait. Thirty minutes later, Glen came out, cameras popping, people yelling. He waved at the crowd then sat down to sign autographs.

The line moved slowly, everyone wanting to shake his hand after he had signed their picture. Glen was getting writer's cramp, having to stop every now and then to flex his hand.

Finally Melissa was next. Without looking up he asked, "How do you want me to sign it?"

"Just sign it 'To Melissa from Kane.'"

Glen stopped and looked up. His eyes opened wide as she was standing there waiting. He wrote what she had asked him to, extending his hand for her to shake. He gave her the pic, still surprised. She stepped away, going on to a couple of other exhibits. When he was through, he left, intending on finding her. He looked around but didn't see her. "No, it really couldn't have been her. My mind was playing tricks on me." He left mid-afternoon for his beach house.

Melissa had gone on to look at a couple of other exhibits then went straight back to the house. She smiled at the look she had seen in his eyes. He had remembered her. She was sitting on the patio, enjoying the sun. Glen came out on his deck, glad for the time alone. He turned to his left. All he could do was stare. Going down his steps, he crossed the short distance to next door.

Melissa saw a shadow come across her. She looked up a bit startled, then recognized who it was. "Hi."

"You're the one who lives here?"

"I've been here for about three weeks on business. I decided to stay a while longer."

"I thought I was seeing things this morning!"

"I didn't know if you would remember me. It was only once."

"How could someone forget a beautiful woman like you!" He turned and looked away as soon as the words had come out, a slight redness coming up his neck. "I'm sorry."

Chapter 10

"Why? That's the nicest compliment I've heard."

A slight smile came on his face.

"Do you have time to sit for a while?"

"No, I'll have to be getting back to the arena soon. I'm supposed to do more signings. I don't suppose you'll be there again."

"I have a ringside seat for the matches tomorrow night. I'm not sure what side of the ring I'll be sitting though."

"I'll look out for you." Glen kept his hands in his jeans pockets. He didn't want her to see how nervous he was talking to her. "What will you be doing after the matches?" he asked.

"I probably will just come on home. I don't know the city well enough to know where to go."

"Well... I mean....would it be okay if...."

"Are you asking me out?"

Glen turned to look at the ocean. "Yes," expecting her next word to be "no."

"I would like that. Where do you want me to meet you?"

Glen looked back at her, not believing she had accepted. It was a few moments before he could answer. "Could you wait for me backstage? I'll get you a pass. I'll need to tell the guard your full name."

"It's Melissa Conners."

"It will be at the ticket office." He looked at his watch. "I'd better get going."

Glen went back to his house. When he entered it hit him. He had just asked out a beautiful women and she had said yes. And she would be waiting backstage. He could imagine the looks on the other wrestlers' faces.

Melissa couldn't help but feel she was back in high school, being asked out for the first time. She got the feeling she was the first one he had asked out or who hadn't turned him down. "Why would someone want to turn him down?" she thought to herself. "Or not go out with him?"

She wondered was it because of the mask or that he was shy - or both. The mask did intrigue her. Why did he wear it? She had wanted to ask but thought better of it, realizing he would tell her in his own time.

CH. 11
Melissa arrived early the next night and picked up her backstage pass. She had dressed casual as she didn't know where he would take her. She walked around the lobby, getting something to drink. She looked at the time and headed to her seat. She was sitting behind and to the left of the commentator's table. With camera in hand, she settled in for the matches.

It was another ten minutes before they started. After the opening fanfare, the matches began. She felt herself getting into the matches. She thought, "Now I'm beginning to act like Beth and Marsha." She remembered Glen, or Kane as he was known, was to wrestle in a tag match with Undertaker for the tag titles. The match was next.

After the tag champs came out, the arena became dark. Then the familiar explosion and pyros went off. She stood up as Glen's music played. She watched as he came down the ramp, walking tall and straight. Melissa was in awe of his size. He seemed larger in the ring that close up. Glen raised his arms then brought them down; the ring posts spewing fire. After Undertaker's entrance, the match began.

Melissa shook her head at Glen's athletic ability. She gasped when she saw him climb the corner post and jump off, knocking his opponent to the mat. At one point, Glen and the opponent were fighting outside the ring. Each banging the other against the announcer's table. Then Glen picked him up and tossed him over the rail into the crowd. Security kept the crowd back. At one point, Glen turned his head slightly and saw her standing there watching. He smiled inside his mask. Then they were back over the rail and in the ring. Undertaker was getting ready to do his finishing move. Glen now had his opponent the same way. As if on cue, the both of them gave the "Last Ride", pinning their opponents for the titles.

There were two more matches, then it was over. Getting her pass out, she showed the security guard who took her backstage. As she stood there, several of the wrestlers smiled at her. One of them, Triple H, came over. "Are you looking for someone?"

"I'm waiting for someone."

"Is it me?" he asked with a smile.

"No, I'm afraid not."

Melissa looked around, then smiled and waved. "Here he comes."

Triple H turned, then got a shocked look on his face when he saw it was Glen.

chapter 12
After the match, Glen had gone to the locker room to get ready. Making sure no one was around, he removed the mask. He quickly showered and dressed, putting his everyday mask on. He looked at himself in the mirror. He was nervous. This would be the first time he was actually going out. He had decided on jeans, a white shirt, and boots. "I hope I'm dressed okay." Just before he left the locker room, he said to himself, "Glen, don't blow it."

As he walked down the hallway, all the guys stared at him. This was the first time they had seen him dressed before everyone was gone. "I wonder what's going on? Glen's never done this before," Bradshaw said.

When he had turned the corner, he had seen Triple H talking to Melissa. He got a sad look when he saw her talking to him. He had seen her smile then wave in his direction, Triple H shocked. He walked up to the both of them.

"Hi," she said.

"Hi, Melissa. Ready?"

"Yes. Let's go."

Glen didn't say a word to Triple H, leaving him in a state of shock. When Triple H entered the locker room, the guys saw him with a dazed expression.

"Hey! What's with you? You look like you've seen a ghost," Farooq said.

Blinking his eyes, Triple H shook his head. "You guys are never going to believe this. I was talking to this gorgeous brunette, the one I told you about I had seen some months ago. I asked what she was doing. She said she was waiting on someone. I jokingly asked was it me. She said no. Then she smiled and waved, saying he was coming. I turned around. You'll never guess who."

"Who?"

"Glen!"

"What?! You've got to be kidding! You sure?"

"Yeah, I'm sure. I still can't believe it."

"Must be a groupie."

"No, this one isn't a groupie. This one has class written all over her. They knew each other, too, but from where?"

"Imagine that, Glen going out on a date!"

All the guys, except Undertaker, sat there dazed.

chapter 13
"Where do you want to go?" Glen asked.

"I don't care. Wherever you're comfortable with," she replied.

He drove to a small restaurant on the outskirts. They entered, the lights dimly lit. "I like coming here. As you can see the lights are low, that way no one can stare at me."

They were seated at a corner table, the waiter lighting small candles. They ordered drinks and dinner. Glen saw Melissa's face glow in the candle light, her eyes reflecting the flame. "Why did she go with me? She's so beautiful," he thought to himself.

Melissa saw how he was looking at her. "What are you looking at, Glen?"

"How beautiful you are."

Melissa smiled. "Thank you, Glen."

"I was wondering, too, why did you go out with me? It couldn't be for my looks." He said, looking in his glass.

"Why do you put yourself down? What do looks have to do with it? Because of the fact you wear a mask to hide your face? I know we've basically just met, but I can see there is more to you than that."

After they had eaten, Glen drove back to the beach. He walked her to her door. "Do you want to come in for a nightcap?" she asked. Glen nodded and followed her in.

"What would you like? A glass of wine?"

He nodded, then went out to the patio to look at the ocean. Melissa looked at Glen for a few minutes. "I like him." She took the glasses out to the patio. "Here you go," she said. She handed him his glass, touching his hand as she did so.

Glen felt how warm and soft her hands were. He turned to look at the ocean again. Melissa took a sip and leaned against the rail. "I love to hear the ocean. It helps me sleep," she said. "Do you like it?"

"Yes, it helps me to relax. I sometimes walk along the water's edge just to think. I do it real late at night or early in the morning."

"How about now? I wouldn't mind taking a short walk."

They went down the steps the short distance to the water's edge. They walked slowly up the beach, neither one not saying much. They came to an outcrop of rock and sat a few minutes. "I'd better get back. I've got to be on the road in the morning. It's just up the coast, but I like to get there early."

They walked back. Before Melissa went up the steps, she kissed him on the cheek. "Good night, Glen. Thank you for a wonderful evening."

Glen watched her as she went in, then went home. As he laid in bed, he still felt her kiss. It had been warm and soft. He closed his eyes, his thoughts on a pair of warm lips.

chapter 14
Glen found he was to make several personal appearances at various cities, which would keep him on the road for at least a month as well as wrestling. "It looks like I'll be gone for a month. Will you be here or are you going back?"

"I'll be going back. My work here is done. I do plan on keeping the beach house as a retreat. I like living on the beach as the 'neighbors' are very friendly," she said with a sly grin.

Glen chuckled. Before he left, Melissa gave him her phone number and address. Glen left the next day for his appearance, Melissa the day after.

She arrived at her apartment somewhat tired. She called Beth and Marsha to let them know she was back in town. Thirty minutes later they were there to welcome her back. The girls asked how was California. Melissa told them she had a good time there.

"How about we go out and celebrate your homecoming?" Marsha asked.

"No, thanks girls. Maybe some other time. I just want to relax."

The phone rang. Melissa picked up. "Hello?"

"Hi, 'Lissa. It's Glen."

"Glen! Hi, how's the tour going?"

"It's hectic and tiring. I think I'm going to have to grow another hand. This one's about had it," he said with a slight chuckle. "When did you get in?"

"About a couple of hours ago. A couple of friends of mine are here right now. We're just sitting around catching up on the latest."

"I'll call back later. Right now I'm taking a break before going to the arena for my match."

"Okay. I'll be expecting your call." Melissa hung up.

The girls looked at Melissa. "Who is Glen?" they asked.

"A guy I met. A very nice guy too."

"Oh, really! What does he look like? Is he cute?"

"How tall is he?"

"What does he do for a living?"

"Hold it girls! You don't need to know everything about him. Like I told you. He's a very nice guy I met. That's it."
When the time was right she intended for them to meet him. She was going to have a good time with their reaction.

Beth and Marsha were disappointed. "Ah, come on, 'Lissa!"

"When the time is right, I'll introduce him to you."

The girls stayed another hour then left. Melissa took a hot shower then sat on the bed, waiting for Glen to call. She woke up to the phone ringing. She picked up. It was Glen.

"Hi, Glen," she said in a sleepy voice. She looked at the clock. It was just after midnight. "I must have dozed off."

"I forgot you're three hours ahead. Maybe I should call tomorrow."

"It's okay. How was your match?"

"I won."

"I'm glad."

"We're coming back that way in about a week. There's going to be a banquet held at the WWF Restaurant. It's a black tie affair. I was wondering if you wanted to go?"
chapter 15
"Sure, I'll go. When and at what time?"

"It's this Saturday night. It starts at 7:00. I'll pick you up at six. I hadn't planned on going but, I don't know, I just thought this time I would."

"I'll be ready. You said it was a black tie affair, right?"

"Yeah."

"It will be something to see you dressed up."

They talked for a few more minutes, then hung up. She laid there, picturing Glen in a tuxedo. She smiled. With his height and build he will be a knockout.

The week went by fast. Melissa spent the afternoon picking out a dress, bathing and getting ready. She chose a white gown, a silver pin holding it on at one shoulder, a slit that went up to the middle of her thigh, silver open-toed shoes and a choker. She looked at herself in the mirror.

"I wonder what he'll think."

She played up her green eyes, wearing her hair down.

At six there was a knock. Melissa answered. It was Glen, on time, in white tux and black tie. He was just like she pictured. When Glen saw Melissa, his knees almost gave out, not able to say a word at first. Finally Glen was able to speak. "Wow!" Melissa blushed.

"Are you ready?" he asked.

"Yes, I'll just get my purse."

Glen could hardly believe he was taking her to the banquet. "Glen, you are one lucky guy," he said to himself.

When they exited the building there was a limo waiting out front. Melissa gasped. "A limo!"

"Why not?"

"Glen, they're expensive to rent!"

They got in the car for the thirty minute drive to the restaurant. While they rode, Glen told her about his appearances and matches.

"Glen, you shouldn't have rented a limo. Your car would have been good enough."

"I wanted to do this."

They arrived at the restaurant admits a crowd of fans, cameras popping all over the place. Melissa was in shock. They were soon inside, entering an elevator to go up a couple of floors to the banquet room. Across the hall was a ballroom where they would be dancing later.
chapter 16
When they entered the banquet room, all the guys were in shock. They couldn't believe Glen was attending the banquet and, to top it off, was bringing a date.

"Who's that with Glen?" Farooq asked, his mouth open.

"That's the one I told you about. The one he picked up in San Diego," Triple H said with envy.

"Damn! She's a knockout!" Bradshaw said.

"Where did Glen find her?" Bill Gunn piped in.

"I don't know, but I wouldn't mind finding out more about her," Triple H commented, watching as they walked to a table in the corner.

Glen saw some of the guys looking at him, clearly seeing shock on their faces. He thought he saw something else too - envy. He smiled to himself then put his hand in hers. Melissa looked up at him and smiled as she too had seen the look of shock.

They found a corner table and sat. Melissa looked at all the wrestlers there. A dark-haired man came over. "Glen, this is a suprprise! I hadn't thought you would be coming." He looked at Melissa. "Who is this gorgeous woman with you?"

"This is Melissa Connors," he replied. "Melissa, this is Vince McMahon. He owns the WWF."

"How do you do," she said, shaking his hand.

"It's nice to meet you," Vince said. He saw someone waving at him. Excusing himself, he left them alone.

Melissa heard a deep voice from behind. She turned to see it was Undertaker who had brought his girlfriend along.

"Melissa, this is Mark Calloway, better known as Undertaker. He's my tag partner."

"Nice to meet you," she said.

Mark motioned Glen to the side and whispered with a wink, "Partner, you did alright for yourself." Glen smiled, nodding his head.

Soon the rest of the wrestlers came over to Glen and introduced themselves. Triple H stayed back, watching the both of them. He was wondering how could Glen have gotten someone as gorgeous as her to go with him. If they were going together, he was going to have to see to it that it didn't last long.

"I didn't realize you were this popular, " she said.

"I didn't realize it either. I generally don't talk to them too much. I guess it's who I have with me. I think they're suprised I have a date."

"Why should they be surprised?"

Everyone soon seated themselves and the banquet began. Afterwards they went across the hall to the ballroom. Glen was apprehensive. "I don't dance very well."

"Who says we have to dance? We can listen and watch the others trip all over themselves," she said with a grin.

They sat for a few minutes. The band began playing a slow tune. Glen decided to take a chance. "Would you care to dance?" he asked. "If you don't mind two left feet."

"If you really want to."

Glen got up and took her hand, leading her to the floor. It took a few steps, but Glen soon was dancing to the rhythm. "You don't do bad," she said.

Glen held her close, looking in her eyes, becoming lost in them. Melissa felt the strength in his arms, yet how tenderly he held her. For the rest of the evening they danced. Everyone watching them, still in a state of shock that Glen had showed up, with a date, and was now on the dance floor. One in particular was doing so, ignoring his own date, eyes watching like a hawk. Before long, Glen and Melissa were dancing very close, their arms around each other. At midnight they left. When they arrived at her apartment she asked if he wanted to come in for a nightcap. He thought he should leave but went upstairs with her.
chapter 17
Melissa poured them each a glass of wine. "Glen, I had a wonderful time," she said, then chuckled.

"What's so funny?"

"The looks on the other wrestlers' faces when we came in. I loved it. You'll be the topic of conversation for a long time."

"I guess I will at that."

Melissa went over to her CD player and began looking at some of her CD's. She loaded one in the player. It was a slow tune.

"Let's dance some more," she said, taking Glen's glass and putting it down.

"I thought you would have had enough of my dancing."

"We danced all evening, so you didn't do too bad."

Melissa put her arms around him, her body close to his as she swayed to the music. Glen wrapped her in his arms, her head now resting on his chest. As they danced, Melissa put her head back. Glen stopped. Looking in her eyes, he tenderly touched her cheek, then lowered his head, his lips softly touching hers. Melissa traced his lips with her tongue, coaxing them open as she traced the inside of his mouth, her arms now around his neck.

Glen groaned, his body shaking from the sensation. He tightened his arms, his tongue now enter twining with hers. He broke it off.

"I should go," he said in a shaky voice, stepping back to go to the door.

Melissa held his hand.

"No, Glen. Stay with me."

Glen closed his eyes, then turned to look at her, her eyes inviting him. She backed up, pulling his hand for him to follow. When they entered her room, she took his coat off, putting it on the chair. Next came the tie, slowly undoing the bow, dropping it on top.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" he asked.

He wanted to tell her that she was the first woman he had really been with, but was afraid, having only dreamt of what they were about to do.

"Yes, Glen. I want to," she replied as she began to unbutton his shirt.

Glen helped her, stepping out of his shoes as she slipped the shirt off his massive arms. He felt goose bumps on his body has her fingers lazily caressed his chest, then undoing his belt on his pants. She knelt, pulling his pants down, helping him to step out of them. She came up, running her hands along his muscular thighs. Glen could feel her warm breath on his thighs.

Melissa stepped back, undoing the clasp on her shoulder. Glen watched the dress fall to the floor. All she had on underneath was a pair of white, very brief lace panties. She undid the choker, letting it fall to the floor. Glen felt as if he had been with a sledgehammer. Taking his hand, she back stepped to the bed, pulling him on top of her as she laid down. She brought his face down to hers. With a groan he kissed her, grinding his lips in hers. He tore his lips from hers, kissing her cheek, neck, going down to her breasts. Grasping one, he took the tip in his mouth, sucking it, running his tongue over the tip. Melissa ran her fingers through his hair, her body shuddering as he moved to the other.

"OH GLEN!" she moaned.

His head moved lower, kissing her stomach on the way down, his fingers stroking around her thighs, then over the briefs that covered her. Lifting her hips, Melissa pushed them down. Glen removed them, dropping them to the floor, then kissed all around her thighs, his fingers stroking the outer lips of her womanliness, going inside, feeling the heat and wetness. "Please!" she groaned, moving her hips. Sliding lower, he put her legs on his shoulders, then lowered his face, running his tongue up and down, taking her bud in his mouth.

"She tastes like warm honey," he thought to himself.

His shaft was aching now, wanting a share of the warmth he was tasting. Melissa held his head, her hips bucking with every stroke of his tongue. She was close to exploding when he came up. When his face was above hers, she reached down and grasped him, running her hand back and forth. Every nerve in his body was on fire.

"I can't wait! I've got to be in you!" he moaned.

Wrapping her legs around him, she guided him in her.

"Oh damn! he cried as he entered.

Melissa gasped as she felt him go all the way in. He almost came at that moment, but held back. Slowly he moved in and out, her tightness gripping him like a glove. She dug her nails in his back as she moved with him, every stroke sending the both of them higher.

"GLEN, DON'T STOP! YOU FEEL SO GOOD!"

Glen bent his head to her breast taking the tip in his mouth. He could feel his need to release coming closer. Groaning, he sped up his strokes, sucking her tip harder, pulling it. He lifted his head, "'Lissa, I'm cuming!" he cried. With one final stroke he came. Melissa could feel his warmth fill her, sending her over, her body shaking as her juices mixed with his.

Glen collapsed on top of her, the both of them panting, their bodies sweating. Shaking, Glen rolled to her side, pulling her closer to him. Melissa was shaking also, her head on his chest. Glen turned her face to him, kissing her as she put her hand on his cheek. Reaching down, he pulled the sheet over them, the both of them drifting off to sleep.

chapter 18
Glen woke up around midmorning, not realizing at first where he was. He felt something warm snuggled up against him. It all came back to him. He lightly kissed her forehead, then closed his eyes, vividly recalling every detail.

Melissa opened her eyes, then shifted her head, seeing Glen had his eyes closed. Thinking he was still asleep, she began kissing his chest, running her tongue over his nipples, taking each one in her mouth. A very low moan came from Glen's throat. She sat up and got on top, sitting on his stomach, kissing her way down. She shifted her body down, rubbing her slit back and forth over his shaft. Glen groaned, feeling the heat of her slit as he felt himself harden. He opened his eyes and lifted his head, seeing her head between his thighs, licking all around then taking the two orbs into her mouth. Glen gripped the covers, sucking in his breath, his whole body now shaking. Her tongue went up his shaft, licking all around, up and down, tasting her juices as well as his. Licking her lips, she took him in. Glen jumped, his hands going through her hair.

"OHH!!!" he groaned out loud, holding her head as he moved his hips. She sucked him harder; Glen rolling his head back and forth.

"'Lissa, god please!!!

He felt himself ready to explode. She raised up and slowly crawled up his body. Bracing herself on his chest, she slowly came down, taking him all the way in, then slowly moved her hips up and down. She hissed as his shaft went all the way to the back, hitting that little spot that was making her body shake. She was ready to explode, her hips moving faster, driving Glen out of his mind as he moved with her. Both cried out as they released, Melissa throwing her head back as she felt him come in her, his warmth filling her then flowing out and down between his legs.

Melissa collapsed on top, breathing heavily, her head on his chest. Glen lifted her head, a dazed look in his eyes.

"'Lissa! God, I've never been loved like this!"

He brought her head down, grinding his lips into hers, then rolled her onto her back, kissing her till she cold barely breathe. He lifted his head.

"I liked you from the first moment I saw you. I didn't think anyone like you would even think of me."

Melissa touched his cheek.

"I look to see what's inside. And inside I've found a very special man."

Glen laid beside her, pulling the sheet back over them as they drifted back off to sleep.

chapter 19
About mid-afternoon there was a loud banging on her door. Melissa woke up, wondering who this could be. Glen felt her get up, hearing the banging noise as well. "You expecting anyone?"

"No. I'll bet its Beth and Marsha." Putting on her robe she went to answer the door.Sure enough, it was them." Well, good morning, or should we say afternoon, sleepy head?" Marsh quipped.

"My, my, what happened to you?" Beth asked. "Rough night?"

"Hi, girls. Didn't expect to see you," Melissa said, running her fingers through her hair. "I wasn't sleepy, so I stayed up most of the night. It was early this morning before I went to bed."

Glen got up as quietly a possible and stood by the door.

"'Lissa, when are you going to tell us about this Glen character? We've been your best friends for a long time. Don't you think we deserve to know?"

"I will tell you when the time is right."

"Anyway, we were wondering if you wanted to go to a movie with us?"

"No, I don't feel like a movie. I'd rather stay here. I'm still tired."

"Okay, but it's one you've been wanting to see for a while."

"No thanks girls."

"Beth, we'd better get going. The movie starts in half an hour."

The girls got up to leave. "Sure you won't change your mind?"

"Quite sure. You can eat my share of the popcorn."

"See you tomorrow."

Melissa shut the door, glad they were gone. She went back in the bedroom. Glen caught her from behind. "How come you didn't tell your friends you had company?"

"It's none of their business."

"How did they know about me?"

"They don't know it's you per se.; All they know is that I met a nice guy named Glen. Now, I'm going to take a shower. Want to join me?"

Glen wanted to, but knew he would have to take his mask off. Melissa saw the hesitation. "I'll wait for you to finish," he said.

Melissa went into the bathroom. She knew he was still sensitive about his mask. But, if they were to have a real relationship, he would have to trust her. She turned around and went back to the bedroom.

"Glen, I have a question to ask you. Do you want us to be together? As a couple? I want an honest answer."

Glen looked down at the floor for a bit then raised his head. "I would like that, yes."

"Then you will have to trust me. I want you to take your mask off."

chapter 20
Glen got up, a surprised look on his face.

"'Lissa, I can't!"

"Why? What are you afraid of? Afraid that I'll be repulsed or laugh at you?"

Glen turned his head away and nodded.

Melissa gently turned his face to hers.

"Glen, you have to trust me. Please!"

With a shaking hand Glen undid the straps, then slowly took it off. Melissa didn't say anything for a few seconds, then she reached up and gently touched the scars. Glen saw no revulsion in her eyes nor did he hear her laugh. She raised on tip toe and gently kissed the scarred cheek. Glen was surprised.

"Glen, It's not what's outside that counts. It's what's in here," she said, pointing to her heart.

Glen pulled her to his chest in a tight hug, his face buried in her neck.

"How did I ever find someone like you?"

"Just lucky, I guess," she said with a grin. "Now, do you still want to join me?" she asked with a wicked look on her face.

Melissa lead him to the bathroom where they took a long and leisurely shower. As they dried off, Glen remembered he had only his tux.

"How about we order in? It shouldn't take long to get here," she said.

Melissa called for pizza delivery, ordering two extra large pizzas. Glen raised his brows. "I'm starving," she said.

Glen chuckled. "After we eat I have to get back to my hotel and pack. It's back on the road again.

"How long?"

"At least six months," Glen said, shaking his head.

There was a knock. It was their pizzas. Glen hurriedly put his pants and mask on then answered the door. Glen paid for the pizzas, the man just staring at him. As he closed the door, he heard Melissa start to giggle.

"Why are you giggling?"

"The look on the man's face. It was priceless. He didn't know what to do."

"I'm beginning to wonder about you," he said with a grin. "Are you always that way?"

"Only around those that are very close to me. Now let's eat."

Glen put the pizzas on the coffee table. The aroma of the food was making his stomach rumble. They tore into the pizzas, eating every slice.

"For a woman, you pack away a lot."

"I was starving!"

Glen finished dressing, calling a cab to take him to his hotel. "I wish I didn't have to be on the road so long."

"Call me when you can."

"I have a gut feeling my life has just taken a turn - for the better." Glen held her close.

The sound of a horn brought them to reality. Kissing her, he left.

chapter 21
Glen caught the first flight out to Dallas. After checking in, he showered and went to bed. Glen still had his dreams but now they were of a beautiful green-eyed woman. It was too late to call but he would talk to her after the show.

The next day Glen went to the arena about mid-afternoon for a light workout before the show. The other wrestlers came in. Upon seeing him they went over to him.

"Man! Where did you find that gorgeous brunette?!"

"Does she have any friends? If they're anything like her I want to meet them?"

"Glen, you've been holding out on us, man!"

"Did you get lucky?"

Glen kept on doing his workout. When he stopped, he picked up his towel to go take a shower.

"Hey! Aren't you going to say anything?"

Glen turned, smiled and shook his head, then went to take his shower, leaving them with disappointed faces.

"It was none of their business," he thought.

He grabbed a light dinner then went back to the arena to dress for his match. He wouldn't be wrestling till about half way through. He sat in the locker room getting into his ring mode. It was rather difficult as his mind constantly thought of Melissa. Mark came in to talk over the tag match they were having against Haku and Rikishi. He saw Glen daydreaming.

"Hey, Glen, come off of whatever cloud you're on!" he said.

Glen shook his head.

"Hey, Mark."

"I want to talk over the match. Are you okay?"

"I'm fine. What's going on with the match?"

Mark explained what was to happen and how.

"You got it?"

Glen nodded his head.

"I take it you were thinking of a certain brunette?"

Glen nodded, thankful that the mask hid the red creeping in his face.

"She seems like someone nice?"

"She is. I'm going to call her after the show."

"Well, first, you have to keep your mind on the show," Mark said with raised brows, then smiled. "I wish you luck. Now let's get to our spot. The cameras are going to show us walking the hallway to the arena."

chapter 22
Glen managed to keep his mind on the match. It was a first blood match, the guys making Haku and Rikishi bleed first. As usual Glen waited till everyone had left before showering. He was still uncomfortable about his face. When he got to his room, he got Melissa's number from his bag.

"Hi, 'Lissa."

"Hi, Glen. I just got through watching RAW. I saw your match. Are you okay? They seem to hit you pretty hard."

"I'm okay. You watched the match?"

"Sure! I have to keep up with what's happening to you. Have the guys been ribbing you?"

"Oh, they tried. Some of them wanted to know if there were any others like you; claiming I was holding out on them. You know, the usual."

"What did you say?"

"Nothing. I just left them wondering."

Melissa snickered.

"That will rouse their curiosity even more."

"Last night I dreamt about you."

"You did? What was it about?"

"I might burn up the wires if I told you."

"Where do you go next?"

"It's off to Florida. We'll be doing a taping in Pensacola, a couple of house shows in Orlando and Tampa. Then we head to Atlanta for RAW and Smack down. After that is a PPV in Birmingham. That's not including other appearances and house shows."

Melissa sighed into the phone. "Looks like a busy schedule."

"That's just the first month. There's five more about like it."

"Does your schedule look like you'll be up this way?"

"I don't know yet. I won't get the rest of the schedule till the end of this week. As soon as I get it I'll let you know."

Some of the wrestlers were walking down the hallway. They stopped outside Glen's room as they heard a sound coming from inside. It was the sound of laughter. They looked at each other, eyebrows raised. Glen? Laughing? They walked on to the elevator, not believing.

chapter 23
Glen received the rest of the schedule a couple of weeks later. He scanned, looking for when they would be back in New York. He saw it would be between Christmas and New Years. They would be doing a special end of the year show.

Glen called Melissa as often as time allowed him. Each time they talked he became more sure, his true personality beginning to show. It even affected his character Kane, who now began himself to emerge from behind the mask.

Melissa kept up with Glen's matches, always amazed at his athletic ability and strength, always waiting on Glen's calls, telling her friends she was expecting something important and had to be there.

Beth and Marsha knew their friend was serious about someone. Melissa would smile to herself, knowing one day they would be in for the shock of their lives.

Glen decided to surprise Melissa and arrive the day before Christmas. He was anxious to give her a special present he had found. He was also anxious for something else, his entire body on fire at the thought of being with her again.

Melissa took off Christmas Eve to do some late shopping. She came in the door loaded down with packages of last minute presents. It took a couple of hours but she managed to get them wrapped. She already had a few presents under the tree, one of them being for Glen. She had just put the others under the tree when there was a knock. Not expecting any company she wondered and opened the door. As soon as she had it open she was picked up by a pair of massive arms.

"Glen!" was all she was able to get out as his lips cut off any words she would have said. They stood in the hallway for a couple of minutes. Melissa was almost out of breath and broke it off. He carried her and his bag inside, putting her down and shutting the door.

"I didn't expect to see you until after Christmas!"

"I wanted to surprise you. Here is something for you."

He put his bag on the couch and took out a tiny gift wrapped box.

"Merry Christmas."

"What's this?"

"Something I found while on tour. Open it."

Melissa carefully opened the gift. Inside was a small velvet box. She slowly opened it to find an emerald bracelet. Her eyes opened wide as she gasped. She took it out of the box, holding it gingerly in her hand. "It's beautiful!"

"When I saw it I thought of you." He put it around her wrist.

chapter 24
"Glen, you shouldn't have. It must have cost you a fortune."

"It didn't matter about the cost. I just saw it was beautiful, like you."

Melissa put her arms around his neck. Glen bent down and kissed her. "I missed you."

"I missed you too. What are you doing here early?"

"The show will be here day after tomorrow but I didn't want to wait. I decided to come on ahead."

Melissa went over to the tree and got her present for him. "Open it. I hope you like it."

Glen sat on the couch, and opened the box, finding a Versace silk shirt. "Who was it that said it must have cost you a fortune?"

"Okay, Okay. But I couldn't pass it up. Try it on."

Glen took off his coat, then the shirt he had on. Melissa had to close her eyes when she saw his bare chest.

"What's wrong?"

"Excuse me, but when I see you bare chested I can't help but close my eyes. You look so good."

Glen couldn't help but smile. The shirt was a bit tight in the arm area, but it fit okay. "Looks like I'll have to take it back and have the sleeves made larger," she said. "But it does look good on you. You look tired."

"I just flew in and came straight here."

"Have you eaten? I can fix you something."

"No, I haven't eaten. I could have on the plane but the food didn't look all that good."

Melissa went in the kitchen to fix him a bite. She put together a steak, salad, and wine. Glen sat down and ate quickly.

"That's the best I've had for a while," he said.

"Why don't you take a shower and then go rest."

Glen went in and took a shower while Melissa set about cleaning up the kitchen. He came back in the kitchen in a t-shirt and boxers, and without his mask. Melissa was just putting the dishes in the dishwasher. Glen came up behind and put his arms around her, kissing her neck.

"I thought you were tired."

Melissa turned around, her lips being claimed by a pair of eager ones. "Lay down with me. I want to feel you next to me," he whispered, picking her up and carrying her to the bedroom.

Chapter 25
Glen put her on the bed, then laid beside her, his fingers gently tracing her cheek.

"I missed you. All I could think about was you, of holding you."

His fingers traced her neck, going over her chest, unbuttoning her blouse. Melissa arched her neck, his gentle touch sending shivers of pleasure through her. He kissed the top of her breasts, his hands feeling her nipples through the lace material. Setting up, he slowly undressed her, taking in every curve.

Melissa ran her hands under his t-shirt, helping him remove it. She kissed his chest, running her tongue over the nipples. Glen closed his eyes as throatily moans came from inside. He got up and removed his boxers and mask. Opening her legs, he knelt between them, his fingers tracing every inch of her. Melissa groaned, his touch leaving a heated trail over her body, stopping at the jecture of her thighs. Lifting her hips he slid in, her warmth surrounding him like a glove. Glen closed his eyes as he moved in and out.

"OOHHH!" he moaned.
Melissa moved with him, feeling him touch that spot, making her speed up her movement. Glen shook as he dug his fingers into her thighs, thrusting harder and faster as his need to release came closer. They came together, crying each other's name. When they had calmed down, he laid on his side. They wrapped their arms around each other as they drifted off to sleep.

Melissa got up the next morning and made breakfast. The smell of coffee woke Glen up. He raised his head as Melissa entered the room.

"Merry Christmas," she said, standing by the bed, holding a tray.

Glen sat up in the bed, putting the pillows behind him.

"What's this? Breakfast in bed?"

She sat the tray on his lap, then placed a napkin on his lap, sitting on the bed.

"Eat while it's hot."

Glen dug in, feeding Melissa bites of bacon and eggs.

"I'm going to take a shower."

Glen watched, the slight sway of her hips warming his blood. He heard the water running, envisioning her standing under the water. Putting the tray on the stand, he arose and went in the bathroom. Quietly as possible he pulled aside the curtain, seeing her eyes closed as she rinsed her hair.

She felt a cloth going up and down her back. She turned, Glen slowly washing her all over.

"For someone who's never been with anyone, you know what to do," she moaned.

Glen rinsed the soap from her, going lower to the dark curls. Opening her legs, he palmed her slit, sliding his finger inside, rubbing her core till he felt it enlarge. Melissa slid her hand down his body to his shaft, grasping it, going back and forth, her ministrations making his passion grow. Leaning her against the shower wall, he lifted her hips, her legs around his waist as he slid in, burying his face in her neck.

"Do me hard, Glen," she whimpered.

Glen moved hard and fast.

"Oh, yes!" she stuttered, her arms tight around his neck.

"I'm coming, 'Lissa!" he moaned.

Melissa felt him flow in her, sending her over, crying his name as she released.

For several minutes they stood under the water. When they calmed down they finished showering, drying each other. Melissa sat on the bed and brushed her hair.

"Let me do you, Glen."

Glen sat on the bed as she sat behind him to brush his hair. There was a knock. Putting her robe on, she want to answer.

Chapter 26
"Merry Christmas!"

It was Beth and Marsha. Melissa smiled and shook her head.

"Merry Christmas, you two."

"Someone just getting up?"

"I just got out of the shower. I was trying to brush my hair dry. Come in."

"We were on our way to Beth's parents for dinner. Care to join us?"

"No. I have other plans."

The girls each had a bag loaded with presents. Each one gave Melissa their present. Melissa went to the tree and gave them their. Beth saw the suitcase on the couch.

"Marsha, she has company."

Marsha saw the suitcase.

"OOHH" with raised brows. "So this is the reason you have other plans."

Glen heard them talking, then remembered he had left his suitcase in the living room. Melissa just smiled and blushed. She then got a thought in her head. She went to the bedroom.

"Glen, I think it's time for my two friends to meet you."

"You sure?"

"Yes."

Glen put his mask on, then his t-shirt and jeans. Melissa took his hand, kissing him on the cheek.

The girls were wondering what Melissa was up to. Their eyes opened wide when she returned with Glen. The girls stared, their mouths open. They didn't recognize who he was.

"Girls, I want you to meet Glen. Glen, meet Beth and Marsha, my best friends."

The girls stared at the mask.

"I believe you know him better as Kane."

The girls almost fell to the floor. It was a few minutes before they spoke.

"This... is...the...Glen..you..said..you met?" Beth asked, stuttering.

Melissa could hardly contain herself. She was wishing she had her camera. The photo would have been priceless. Glen hesitantly extended his hand. Marsha was first.

"Hi" was all she could squeak out.

He then took Beth's hand and gently shook it. Beth was at a loss for words. Their silence was making him feel a bit uncomfortable.

"Oh, Beth, Marsha. Hello."

Finally they blinked, coming out of their stupor.

"My God, Melissa. It's Kane!"

"How did you two meet?"

"Better yet, when?"

"That will all come in good time, girls. Now, don't you two have somewhere to go?"

The girls took the hint. "Come on, Marsha. We had better get going," Beth said with a wink.

Both girls walked to the door, Melissa behind them.

"Have a good time you two."

Chapter 27
When Melissa shut the door, she burst out laughing. Glen watched her, then started to smile.

"You are something else. You enjoyed that, didn't you?"

"I sure did," she said between laughs.

"They had been bugging me, wanting to meet Glen. For six months I endured their nagging. 'When are we going to meet this guy?' 'He must be something.' ' Can't you give us a hint?' They should be quiet for a while."

Melissa walked up to him.
"The girls were right about one thing. You are something. Something very special." Glen put his arms around her.
Melissa reached up and took his mask off, stroking his cheek.
"I care about you very much."
Glen put his hand to her cheek, looking deep into her eyes. Bending down, he covered her lips, then buried his face in her neck.
"I feel the same way about you," he whispered, holding her tight as a tear came from his eye.

Melissa cooked dinner for them, then later they took a walk to the park, stopping at the fountain. Just for fun, Melissa picked up some snow and tossed it at him. Glen picked some up to throw at her. Melissa ran, then tripped and fell into a snow bank. Glen came over.

"Are you alright?" trying hard not to laugh.

"No!" sticking her lip out.

As he bent down to help her up, she grabbed some snow and rubbed his face.

"OoHH! Just wait!"

He picked up a small bit of snow and rubbed her face.
Melissa was laughing and squealing as they tossed snow back and forth, their clothes getting soaked.

They went back to the apartment, full of snow from head to foot. Getting out of their wet clothes, they showered and put on warm robes. Melissa made them some hot tea. They went to bed early as Glen needed his rest. Melissa curled up next to him, both content to hold each other.

Melissa got up to go to work the next morning. "I wish I didn't have to go in, but I had better."

"You never did tell me what you do?"

Melissa looked at him surprised. "I never told you? That's right I never did. I work for CPM Advertising Inc. I'm the vice president."

"Vice President? Well, VP, you could take the day off."

"I know, but I had better go in," she said as she was putting on her make-up. "I got this promotion only a few months ago, so I have to be sure I keep it."
She kissed him on the cheek.

"I'll see you when I get home."

"I probably won't be here. I'll be going to the Garden early. We're doing a special end-of-the-year show."

"I'll come home early to change and then come on down."

Chapter 28
Melissa left work early, rushing home to freshen up and change. She made it to the Garden about six o'clock. Geln had told security that she would be coming and to bring her backstage. Jim met her at the ticket office and took her through the seating area to the back. She saw last minute preparations being done for the show. He took her to the lounge to wait for Glen. It wasn't long till he came in and sat beside her.

"I see you're wearing your Christmas present," he observed.

"I want everyone to see it."

"Would you like something to drink?"

"Sure. What do they have?"

"Most any kind of soda, mineral water, juice, etc."

"I'll take a soda. Thanks."

Glen came back shortly with her soda.
"I'll be wrestling midway through the show. It will be a six-man tag match. Me, Mark , and D'von are going against Haku, Rikishi, and Christian. You can watch it here in the lounge on the monitor over there."

"Are you sure they won't mind be being in here? I don't want you getting into trouble."

"No, they won't mind."

"I looked at the arena as I was brought back here. I didn't realize it took so many people to set things up."

"That's only a small part. You have the cameramen, control booths, which are those big trucks out back. Then the pyrotechnicians, the ring crew, drivers, wardrobe and make-up personnel. There's close to 800 people on the go. Then there is the company itself, which has its own advertising department."

"I didn't realize there was so much involved."

"Then you have the wrestlers themselves. Sometimes they bring their wives and/or girlfriends along."

"How do you handle the travel arrangements, hotels, etc.?"

"We have to do our own. It's really hectic. We sometimes have to leave to catch a plane to the next show a soon as one show is over with. And we usually rent our own cars to drive."

"All of this must cost a lot?"

"It does. We try to go as cheap as possible."

Melissa looked at her watch.

"When are you supposed to get dressed?"

Glen looked at his watch.
"Guess I had better get going. I'll come here to get you when my match is over."

Glen kissed her on the cheek and left. Melissa sat in front of the monitor to watch. Their schedule was so hectic, it was no wonder they enjoyed what little time they had off. She thought to what Glen had said of girlfriends and/or wives going along. She could see why they would. The time they were apart had to be hard on them. Then there were the children. How did they do it?

Chapter 29
The show started in the usual format. The opening sequence being Kurt Angle talking about getting his belt back, no matter what he had to do. The matches began. The show went smoothly, the crowd yelling and booing constantly.

It was time for Glen's match. After the other tag team came out, D'von was first, then Kane's music began playing. Melissa smiled as he stepped in the ring, raising his arms, then dropping the, fire shooting out of the posts. Mark made his entrance. Then the match began, with D'von going against Christian. She watched the moves made in the ring. She saw how Glen was cornered, being hit by all three men. She breathed a sigh when he got out of the corner and tagged in Mark.

Glen was tagged in when Haku was in the ring. She saw him do several upper cuts, then toss Haku into the corner post. At one point Haku was beating on Kane, and gave him a head butt. She sucked in her breath.

"That had to have hurt," she thought to herself.

She saw Glen take down Haku. Then she saw him stand over Haku and hold up his legs and spread them apart. D'von climbed the corner post.

Melissa couldn't believe it. She saw Glen shake his head, like he was doing
"Whassup!!".

She burst out laughing. She saw the camera pan to Mark's face - total surprise. That was even funnier. When the match was over she saw Glen shrug his shoulders as he walked by Mark. Then she saw Mark smile. Again at the top of the ramp she saw them talking. She shook her head and laughed. This had to have been a total surprise.

Triple H came in the lounge to get a drink as he had finished his match earlier. He saw Melissa sitting at a table. He smiled and went over to her.

"Hello."

Melissa turned then went back to watching the monitor. This surprised him. Women usually were anxious to talk to him. He went and got a drink, thinking to try again.

"Do you mind if I sit here?"

Melissa saw a lot of the tables were empty.
"Yes, go ahead. I was just leaving." Finishing her drink, she got up and left. Looking around she headed in the direction where she saw a lot of the wrestlers coming from. Jim saw her and went over.

"Are you looking for Glen?"

She nodded. Jim took her to the area where the big locker room was located. She stood by some chairs and waited. She had not liked the look on Triple H's face. She could see what he was thinking.

Triple H sat at the table slowly sipping his drink.
"This makes twice now she's done this. What does she see in him?" He finished his drink and left to go to the locker room.

Chapter 30
Triple H saw Melissa standing near some chairs. She saw him coming and turned the other way.

"Well, looks like we seem to be going the same way," he said with a grin.

"I'm waiting on Glen. I hardly think that qualifies as going the same way.

"You sure you wouldn't rather wait on me?"

"I thought my leaving the lounge gave you the message."

Triple H came closer. Melissa backed further away from him.

"Why don't you leave? I'm not interested, or doesn't it register in that so-called head of yours?"

"I'm the kind of person who doesn't take no for an answer. Once I see something, I go after it."

He came closer. Melissa back further away till she backed into the wall. His face was in hers, his arms on either side.

Glen had come out of the locker room and heard the conversation. He came up and tapped Triple H on the shoulder. Triple H turned around, a huge hand grasped his throat. Glen's eyes turned an icy blue.

"I would suggest you leave her alone. She is with me."

Glen squeezed harder as Triple H was choking, his hands coming to tear Glen's hand away. Glen let go,red finger marks appearing.

"Don't ever come near her again! They just might have to find themselves another Triple H." He turned to Melissa.

"I'm fine. Let's go," she said.

Glen picked up his bag, the both of them leaving Triple H standing there rubbing his throat.

Triple H watched them leave. His eyes became slits as he gritted his teeth. He went in the locker room and looked in the mirror. He saw the finger marks where Glen had grasped him by the throat.

"That son of a bitch! I've got to find a way to get them apart."

He left the locker room to get in his car. He had to find out where she lived. As soon as he found out, he would think of a plan to get her for himself.

chapter 31
Glen and Melissa caught a cab back to her apartment. When they go there, she fixed them a quick bite. As they ate, she explained what had happened.

"He had better not ever come near you or he'll never be able to walk again."

"I don't think he'll come around me anymore. I just hope you don't get into trouble. You do have to work with him."

"I'm not worried."

"You have quite a temper. I wouldn't want to get you made at me."

"'Lissa I could never be angry with you. You've made my life worth living. It was pretty lonely till you came along."

Melissa listened as he told her of his younger days. Of how he got the scar and quitting school to leave home.

"You went through hell, Glen."

"Hell couldn't describe what it felt like to be alone. To be afraid to show your face for fear of the look people would give you. When I met you I thought it would be the same. But you took me as I was. It didn't matter to you." Glen held her hand.

"If only people would look beyond the outside, they would see the real you. How special you really are."

For several minutes they didn't say a word. Leaving the dishes behind, they went to her room and undressed for bed. Glen held her close as they laid there. Glen was feeling something he had never felt before. He rolled on top of her, holding her face between his hands. "I don't know if I can say this. It's new to me." He took a deep breath. "I'm in love with you."

Melissa put her hands on top of his. She too was new to this feeling. There had been other men in her life, but none that had made her feel the way she felt now. "I love you, Glen."

Glen lowered his head, his lips tenderly kissing her. Melissa moaned as he deepened the kiss more. She circled her arms around him. He rolled back to his side, kissing her forehead. Melissa snuggled closer. Both realized that what they had just shared said more than any physical act could ever say.

Chapter 32
Melissa went with Glen to the airport 2 days later. There was an hour before he would have to board. They sat in the sating area, Glen holding her in his lap.

People would stare at the two of them, but neither one noticed. The hour seemed to go by much too fast. As they called his flight, they kissed one last time before he went downt he tunnel. Melissa stood at the window and watched his flight take off. She stood outside and hailed a cab. The ride back to the apartment was very lonely. The phone was ringing when she got back. It was Beth.

"Where were you? I tried calling for the past hour."

"I was at the airport with Glen. He was flying out to another show."

"Is he going to be back for New Years?"

"No, he's not going to be able to, but he is going to call."

"Well, would you mind company? At least it won't be lonely."

"I guess not. I'll have a few snacks ready for you two."

Beth and Marsha came over New Year's Eve. They had a bottle of champaigne with them to toast at midnight. To pass the time, the girls watched a couple of movies and did the usual girl talk. It came around to Glen.

"Okay, 'Lissa. How and when did you meet Glen?"

Melissa told them of her walk in the park and how he had come there also, and how he saved her from a would-be rapist.

"'Lissa! You never said anything about that! I told you so."

"I knew you would say that, so I didn't bother to tell you."

She went on to tell them of how they had met again in California. The girls wide-eyed as she told them of their date. The girls saw something in her eyes as she talked about Glen.

"Do you realize, 'Lissa, every time you talk about him your eyes light up? Have you fallen for him?"

"Yes, I have. Beneath the mask is a very special man. He's gentle and very loving."

The girls smiled. "Does he care about you?"

Melissa nodded.

"We may be hearing wedding bells one day."

chapter 33
It was close to midnight. Marsha opened the champaigne as they prepared to toast to the new year. The phone rang. Melissa picked up. It was Glen.

"You're right on time. It's close to midnight here."

"I'm a couple of hours behind you," he said. "We just got through with the show. A bunch of us are going to a party to celebrate. I wish I was there right now."

"Beth and Marsha are here to help me celebrate and keep me company. " She held out the phone. "HI GLEN! WE PROMISE NOT TO LET HER STAY ALONE. AT LEAST UNTIL YOU GET HERE!" the girls yelled.

Melissa put the phone back to her. "Well, as you can hear, I'll have my hands full."

Glen laughed. "I'm glad they're with you. I don't like you being alone on New Year's Eve."

"You said you're going to a party."

"Yeah. The boss is throwing a party at the hotel. I decided to go."

"Have a good time. Don't kiss too many girls."

"There's only one I want to kiss."

Glen heard the girls counting down. Looking at his watch, "HAPPY NEW YEAR."

"HAPPY NEW YEAR! When will you be back?"

"I plan to fly in in about two weeks."

"HAPPY NEW YEAR, GLEN!"

Glen and Melissa both laughed.

"Hey, Glen, come on!"

"I guess I had better get going. Mark is ready to leave. I'll call you tomorrow. I love you."

"I love you, too."

Saying their good-byes, Melissa hung up. Beth and Marsha razzed her, but they were happy for her.

Mark and Glen were leaving the arena to go to the hotel in Mark's rental. "Who were you talking to, as if I can't guess," Mark said.

"It was Melissa."

"You're serious about her, aren't you?"

"Yeah. Very serious."

"How long have you two been knowing each other?"

"We met 8 months ago."

"Ever thought about the next step? Or hasn't it gone that far yet?"

Glen didn't say anything. He hadn't thought about asking her. He guessed it was about time to start thinking about that next step.

chapter 34
Melissa was getting ready to leave work one day when she became very dizzy. She leaned against the corner of her desk. It was about a couple of minutes before she felt able to walk out the door. She thought nothing of it, thinking she might be having a flu symptom. When she got to her apartment, she again became dizzy. This time she barely made it to the restroom as she also became sick to her stomach. A thought came to her head. She couldn't be. She went to bed early that night. In the morning she woke up, nauseated, heaving into the toilet. She called in sick, then made a doctor's appointment. Luckily she was able to get in the same day.

She sat on the examining table, waiting for the results. It was an hour later when the doctor returned.

"Well, you're pregnant. I would say no more than 3 weeks at the most. Congratulations."

Melissa took a deep breath. Glen had called to say he would be flying in the next day. She went home, wondering how she would break the news to him. What would he say?

Glen got in the next afternoon, grabbing the first cab he saw. Melissa had stayed home all that day, practicing in her mind what she would say. She was still practicing when he entered (she had given him his own key). As soon as he entered, he could see something was wrong. He saw how pale she looked. When he went to hug her, she put her hand to her mouth and ran to the bathroom. Glen had a shocked look on his face, then he became concerned. He went to the bathroom, hearing her cough and sputter.

"'Lissa. Is everything okay?" he asked as he found the door was locked.

Slowly the door opened. Glen saw her holding her stomach as she leaned against the wall. He picked her up and carried her to the bed. He sat beside her, pushing her hair back from her face.

"I've heard of people being sick at the sight of someone, but I didn't think it was so literal," he said with a smile.

"Very funny," she said. "I haven't felt good for the past couple of days. I went to the doctor yesterday. I told him I was getting dizzy and throwing up so he ran some tests." Melissa hesitated. "He told me I'm pregnant."

It took a while for the words to sink in. He sat there, a stunned look. "How did that happen?"

Melissa started to laugh. "Glen, how do you think?" Glen then realized what he had just said. "How far along?"

"The doctor said no more than 3 weeks."

Realization sank in. He looked at her stomach, running his hand gently over it. He had made a new life. He bent and kissed her forehead, then laid his head on her stomach. "I'm going to be a father," he whispered. Then a big smile came across his face. "I'm going to be a father!" he said again, only louder this time.

chapter 35
Triple H was waiting for his cell phone to ring. He paced back and forth like a caged animal. What was taking him so long?

Shortly after the show left New York, Triple H had contacted an old buddy of his who owed him a favor. Although he hadn't seen him for quite a few years, he knew where to find him. He had walked along a deserted alley to a rundown building. Here was where he found his buddy, in the middle of a hot game of craps.

He knew better than to interrupt his friend's game, especially if he was winning, as he had quite a temper. Tonight had not been a good night and soon he had lost all of his money. He had looked up to see Triple H. The guy knew he would be back in as his friend always had money.

"Well, if it isn't the funckin' game," his buddy said. "I know you didn't come here for the scenery. What's up?"

"I want you to do something." He explained to his buddy what he wanted. They shook hands, Triple H advancing him some money. His buddy went back to join in the game as Triple H left.

The phone rang.

"It's about damn time you called! Did you find out anything?"

"Not yet. I followed him, but I lost him in the middle of traffic. But from the way the cab was going, they were heading to the west side."

"That's not enough! I want the exact address. Got it?"

"Yeah, Yeah. What's with the tail anyway?"

"That's none of your damn business. Just keep tailing him."

Triple H hung up. He was getting impatient. No one puts on hand on him or tells him what to do, especially a masked retard. He left the hotel room to go to a bar just down the street. A smile came across his face. Once he found out, he knew just what he would do.

The phone range. Glen picked up. It was Marsha.

"Who's this?" she asked.

"This is Glen."

"Oh, Glen! This is Marsha. Is "Lissa around?"

"Yeah, but she's laying down right now. She's not feeling well."

"GLEN, WHO IS IT?" Melissa yelled.

"It's Marsha."

Melissa walked unsteadily to the phone. "Hey, Marsha."

"'Lissa, are you okay? Glen said you weren't feeling well."

"I'm feeling a bit woozy, but it's nothing serious. I'm pregnant, that's all."

"WHAT! OH MY GOD! WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON THE PHONE? YOU SHOULD BE LAYING DOWN! Wait till I tell Beth! Is there anything you need?"

Melissa smiled. "I have everything here I need," looking at Glen. "I'll see you later."

chapter 36
When Melissa hung up, Glen made her shower, then get back into bed. He went in the kitchen and fixed her some soup and a sandwich. While she ate, he showered, changing into a t-shirt and cut offs. Taking the tray to the kitchen, he thought about what Mark had said. This would be a big step for him. Spending one's life with one person was something he hadn't thought about.

He looked towards the bedroom. She had entered his life like an answer to a prayer. Now a new life would be coming into the world in a few months. A life that he and Melissa had made. The more he thought about it, the more he knew that he should ask her. Not only because he loved her, but because their child deserved to have two parents. But if he asked her, she would think it would be because she ws pregnant, not because he loved her.

Glen went back to the room. Melissa had laid down int he bed. he took off his shirt and cut-offs and got under the covers. As gently as he could, he pulled her close to him, laying her head on his shoulder. Turning off the light, he turned his head to her. Melissa stirred, her arm draped over his chest.

Melissa stirred in the bed, her stomach somewhat queezy. She lookedat the clock. "Oh my gosh! I'm late!" She got up to shower and dress, The sudden movement made her cover her mouth and rush to the bathroom. Cleaning up, she went back in the room. She called the office to say she was still sick.

She heard noises coming from the kitchen and went to see what was going on. Glen was dishing up some bacon and eggs. The smell made her stomach queezy all over again. Glen saw how pale she looked. "I thought you would have slept longer."

"I heard noises. I was going to work but I'm still a little woozy in the stomach."

"Would you like some?"

"Right now I'll have just juice. That's about all I can handle."

Glen made her sit while he poured, then sat and began eating. He wondered if now would be the right time. Melissa could see something was on his mind. "Want to talk about it?"

Glen stopped eating. "I don't know, 'Lissa. I want to say but....Damn! How can I say it?" For a few seconds he didn't say a word. "'Lissa, I want to ask you something." He looked around. "Damn, this is hard!" He took a deep breath. "Would you marry me?"

chapter 37
Melissa stared.

"I know we haven't spent a lot of time together with me being on the road so much."

Melissa finally found her voice. "Glen, I don't know what to say. You aren't doing this because of the baby, are you?"

"Partly. I'm doing this because I love you. I know it's a big step, but I have thought this over. I want you in my life permanently."

Melissa was dumbfounded. She got up and walked into the living room. Glen followed her into the room, taking her arms and turning her around. "Do you want me to leave?"

"No, Glen. You just caught me by surprise." Melissa leaned against his chest. For some minutes she didn't say anything. Glen was beginning to get nervous. Had he asked too soon?

Melissa looked up at him. "Yes."

A smile came across his face, then he picked her up off the floor and whirled her around. He remembered and put her gently down. He bent and kissed her passionately, picking her up and carrying to the bed. He took her gown off, then undressed. Carefully laying over her, he kissed her, planting small kisses on her check and neck. Cupping her breasts, he rubbed the tips till they stood out, gently sucking each one. Melissa held his head as he kissed them, loving the touch of his lips. He slid down, kissing and nipping the skin at her waist. He slid further till he came to her thighs, gently opening them, kissing all around, making her moan for more. Lifting her hips, he covered her slit as his tongue lazily went up and down, going over the center of her desire, closing his lips around it. She lifted her hips, her whole body on fire. "Oh Glen!" she whimpered. Her hands tangled in his hair as she rocked her hips. Glen ran his hands up her body, massaging her breasts till she thought she would burst.

Her whole body was throbbing from his delicious lovemaking. Taking his shaft, he put it in her, then slowly slid in. Both groaned as they moved together. He stopped, "What about the baby?" "The baby is fine," she said. He moved again, gripping her hips as he sped up his strokes. "'Lissa!" he cried as he burst in her. Pulling his head down she kissed him, screaming as she came.

When the both of them had calmed down, he laid to her side. Melissa curled next to him, her head in the crook of his arm.

chapter 38
Glen and Melissa announced their plans to marry to Beth and Marsha, who had stopped to see how she was. The girls were ecstatic. "Congrats you two! Looks like there will be lots to do. When is the big day?"

"Glen will be on the road for a couple of months. He'll be getting a week off then."

"That's not much time, 'Lissa?"

"I don't want a big ceremony. Just a few of mine and Glen's friends. That's all. You know I don't like a lot of hoopla."

"Okay," they replied disappointingly.

"I'll ask Mark if he wants to be the best man. He's the closest to a friend I have."

Glen left the next day for Boston. He went to the arena still in a state of euphoria. As he worked out, he thought about what their life would be like, especially with a child on the way. He was going to be a father. He stopped to rest, picturing the three of them together. He didn't notice Mark approach.

Mark had noticed how Glen had changed over the past few months. Although still somewhat to himself, he was more open, more animated. Mark figured it had to be the woman he had seen him with. Somehow she had broken through Glen's reserve and brought out what he had hid inside.

"Hey, partner. You look like you're in another world," Mark commented.

Glen shook his head. "Hey, Mark!"

"Judging from the look on your face, I take it your weekend was good?"

"It was. I found out I'm going to be a father," Glen said with a big smile.

"Congratulations," Mark said, shaking Glen's hand.

Triple H came in the workout room. He was still no closer to finding her. He saw Glen and Mark talking, then saw them shake hands.

Glen saw Triple H at the door. He looked at him with an icy stare. Triple H pretended to not see them and walked over to an area not far from them.

Mark had heard what had happened.

"Hey, skip Triple H. Don't let it bug you. You were going to tell me something else."

"I took that big step, Mark. 'Lissa and I are getting married in a couple of months. I want you to be the best man."

"You dog you. I'll be glad to be best man."

Glen told him that the ceremony would be small and private, with just a few of their close friends. Mark and Glen finished their workout and left.

Triple H hadn't heard what they said, but he could tell it was good news. He had to find out. It was just before the show started that he heard of Glen's upcoming marriage.

chapter 39
Triple H knew he had to move fast. He had come up with a plan and it was time to put it into action. After making a phone call, he went on to his match.

After the show that night, there were a group of fans waiting in the back. When they saw Glen they rushed over to get his autograph. Among them was a woman that eyed Glen. She smiled as she saw the build on him. She waited, being the last one.

"Would you sign please?" she asked, looking at him with big eyes.

Glen put his bag down and the water he was carrying. "How do you want me to sign it?"

Glen wrote what she wanted. He gave back her book and pen then turned to leave. The woman put her hand on his arm. Glen tried to be nice but he was tired and wanted to get back to the hotel, plus he was wanting to talk to Melissa.

"Miss, I'm tired and would like to get some rest."

"You sure you wouldn't want some company to 'rest' with you?"

"No thanks." he picked up his bag and water drinking it down as he left. "You might have company resting with you sooner than you think," she thought to herself.

Melissa sat on the couch munching dill pickles and ice cream. Beth and Marsha were watching her eat the concoction with disgusting looks on their faces.

"Euuww!! How can you eat that?" Beth asked.

"It's absolutely delicious," Melissa said, dipping another pickle in the ice cream."

"Do all women eat this when they get pregnant?"

"I don't know. All I know is this is what I want," she replied. "Oh, did youi bring the stuff I wanted from the store?"

'Yeah, here it is," Marsha said. "Doritos, mayonnaise, french fries and cheesecake yogurt. You're going to eat all of this?"

"Yep," Melissa answered, opening the chips and mayo.

The girls sat watching as she dipped the Doritos in mayo and then drank milk on top of it. "I hope you get over this soon. I can just picture Glen seeing you eat all this."

"He's supposed to be calling. I wonder what's keeping him. He's usually good at calling."

"Maybe he got hung up."

The girls finalized the wedding plans, getting invitations ready to mail out.

chapter 40
Mark was laughing as he watched Glen pace back and forth. "Come on, settle down, Glen. Everything is going to work out."

"You can sound calm. You're not the one getting married," he said pacing. "You got the ring?"

"It's right here," Mark said as he pulled it from his suit pocket.

Mark looked at the clock. "It's time." As they went out the door, Mark shook Glen's hand. "Congratulations." Glen took a deep breath and smiled.

The wedding was being held in a small chapel not far from where Melissa worked. The guests attending were mainly those Melissa worked with along with a few of the wrestlers Glen had invited, and Vince himself. Marsha was maid of honor and Beth the bridesmaid.

Glen tugged at the top of his shirt, his hands getting sweaty. Mark put a hand on his shoulder to calm him down.

When Marsha had made her entrance, the guests stood waiting for the bride. At the sound of the music, Melissa entered. She wore an off the shoulder satin gown with long sleeves, skirt, with a crown veil which hung to her waist, and a pair of pearl earrings. As she came down the aisle, Glen saw no one else but her. The sun shone through the windows, casting a golden light around her. When she came next to him, she put her hand in his as they turned to listen to the minister.

Outside the church, a car pulled up. A woman got out, carrying a brown envelope, a small meek looking man accompanying her. She entered the back of the church, then stepped into the sanctuary.

"Stop the wedding!" she yelled.

The minister stopped. Everyone turned and looked at her. She started walking up the aisle.

"Stop this wedding!" she repeated. "You can't marry her. Not unless you want to go to jail for bigamy."

Melissa looked at Glen, then looked at the woman, who looked Melissa straight in the eye.

"Glen is already married to me. Here is the marriage license to prove it." She pulled it out of the envelope. " You will see that we were married just a month ago. If that's not enough, I have a receipt from the motel where we spent our honeymoon. I also have the justice of the peace here with me who married us."

Melissa shook her head. "No, that is impossible. Glen couldn't have."

"Yes, it is. Have a look at the certificate. Look at the date.

Melissa took the paper and read it through, noting the date. Glen had been on the road during that time. She looked at the signatures. Glen took it and read it.

"Is that your signature?" she asked.

Glen looked at the signature. It was his. "I don't remember signing anything."

"You don't remember standing before the justice of the peace, who is standing in the back who will verify everything I've said."

The man entered.

"What she has said is true. I married them a month ago. I have it on my records."

"This paper is legal and binding. You are my husband. There is the notary's stamp verifying that the certificate is for real."

Tears came into Melissa's eyes as she looked away. She started running down the aisle, Glen went after her. He caught her by the arm as she was at the door.

"'Lissa, this isn't true. I've never seen that woman before! I don't know what's going on! I'm not married to her!"

chapter 41
The girls took Melissa out of the church, leaving Glen standing there. Mark came up to him.

"Just what the hell did you do?"

"I swear Mark. I don't remember signing anything or marrying that woman. I've never even seen her before."

Glen sat in the chair, his head down. He saw a pair of woman's shoes. He looked up, an angry look on his face. The woman backed up.

"I don't know who you are, or where you came from, but I am not married to you, legal or otherwise."

"You are married to me, whether you like it or not. Oh, and I won't sign any divorce papers or annullment papers either, so you can get that thought out of your head." She left the church and drove away. While she was driving her cell phone rang.

"How was it?"

"It worked. The phony certificate worked. Even the phony justice-of-the-peace did his part. He nearly fell to the floor when he looked at his signature. He told her he didn't remember signing any paper either."

"Great. Where is she?"

"I don't know. The bridesmaid and maid of honor took her."

"Damn! What was he doing?"

"When I left he was sitting in the chair, his head in his hands. When he looked up and saw me he got a real angry look on his face, saying he wasn't married to me legal or otherwise. I told him he was whether he liked it or not and I wouldn't sign any divorce or annullment papers either. Now, when do I get paid?"

"I'll give you double, plus a little extra for doing so well."

The woman smiled as she hung up at the thought as she knew what her little extra would be.

Triple H put the cell phone back in his bag. Everything had gone as planned. "Pay back is hell, isn't it you masked retard." He picked up his bag and left for his plane.

Melissa was on the couch, her head in her lap crying. Marsha and Beth had their arms around her, trying to comfort her.

"'Lissa, you have to pull yourself together. You have the baby to think about."

"I should have known it was too good to be true. Everything going great, no problems."

Glen and Mark arrived. Glen using his key to enter. Marsha and Beth moved, making room for him.

"'Lissa, look at me," he said, turning her chin. "I don't know who that woman is. There is no way I could be married to her. I love you, 'Lissa. Please believe me."

Melissa sniffed. "I want to believe you, Glen. But until this is straightened out, I think its best we not see each other any more."

"What about our baby?"

"I'm not going to obligate you to helping with the baby. Please leave, Glen."

Glen slowly got up and walked to the door, his head down. He turned to look at Melissa, then left the apartment, tears in his eyes. Glen leaned back in the seat as Mark drove to the hotel. Melissa didn't want to see him anymore. He wouldn't even get to see the child he had helped to create. He turned his head to the window as tears streamed down his cheeks.

chapter 42
Beth and Marsha left at Melissa's insistence, saying she wanted to be alone for a while. The girls left, saying to call if she needed anything. Melissa looked around the apartment. So many memories of the time her and Glen were together. She knew she had to get away, to have time to sort things out. She went to the closet and got out a couple of suitcases and began packing, taking what she could with her. As she changed, she carefully laid the wedding dress on the bed. She stroked the material.

"Almost," she thought to herself.

She called a cab to take her to the airport. While riding she decided where she wanted to go. A half hour later she was on a plane heading to the Caribbean. She decided she would call the company after she had gotten settled in and ask for an extended leave of absence.

After they left New York, Glen began to withdraw into himself, going back to the way he was before Melissa had come into his life. He kept the ring he had bought for her, hoping that perhaps one day he would still be able to slip it on her finger. His nights were filled with memories of him and Melissa. Oftentimes he would wake up, thinking she was there, only to see a cold, empty spot. He would bury his head in the pillow, whispering her name, pleading for her to come back. For a couple of weeks he tried calling, but got no answer. He would slowly hang up the phone.

"She doesn't even want to answer the phone."

Beth and Marsha were at the apartment, the landlord letting them in. The phone rang. Beth answered. Glen asked who was this.

"This is Beth? Glen? Is that you?"

"Yeah, it's me."

"She's not here, Glen."

"You mean she doesn't want to talk."

"No, Glen. She really isn't here. She's been gone for over two weeks now. Marsha and I came by the next day and found the dress on the bed. She had packed a lot of her clothes and left. We don't know where she went. The landlord doesn't know. She left nothing to say where she went. Not even so much as a piece of paper. Marsha and I are worried."

Glen sat up in the bed. "Does she have anybody she could go to?"

"No. Her parents are dead. And as far as we know, she has no other relatives. We called her job, but they don't know either. All they said was she called for an extended leave of abence. Glen, I'm going to ask you. Do you honestly not know who that woman is or that you are even married to her?"

"No, Beth, I don't. That's the truth. I've never seen her before."

"I believe you, Glen. But why would she want to show up that day? Are you sure you haven't forgotten somehow?"

"No, there is no way I would have forgotten."

Triple H was smiling to himself as he watched Glen walk with his head hung. But he wasn't exactly happy either as none of his contacts could find where she went. Where could she have gone that he wouldn't know where to find her?

Mark had tried talking to Glen to cheer him up, but he saw his friend, who had just come out of his shell, retreat back into it. There was something funny about all of this. He was sure Glen hadn't done this of his own choosing. He was going to find out without telling Glen.

chapter 43
It had been three months since the wedding. Melissa was in her sixth month. She hadn't called anyone, not even the company knew as her checks were deposited in her bank, which had a branch in the islands. Her days and nights were filled with thoughts of Glen. Every day she would feel the baby kick, reminding her even more of Glen. She would wonder if the baby was a boy.

"You certainly kick like you could be," she said to herself.

Mark looked up his contacts and told them the story. They began looking around, listening for any tidbits of information. So far nothing had turned up. A couple of weeks later his cell phone rang. Finding a quiet spot in the lounge, his contact informed Mark that a guy was betting large amounts of money on a crap game. After joining, he found out the guy knew Triple H, as the two were old friends. After buying the guy a few drinks, the man began talking of how Triple H had him try to find out where a woman lived. The guy said he was never told who the woman was, only to follow Glen to her place. He said that he tried but had lost Glen in traffic. After buying the guy a few more drinks, the man said that Triple H had called up an old girlfriend of his to help out. Posing as a fan to get his signature, she made it so that he had to put down his bag and water. Triple H came up from behind and switched bottles, replacing the one he had with one that had been spiked with a knockout drug. Glen would never remember what happened as they went to a nearby motel and had pics taken of the woman and him in bed. Also, Triple H had hired a man to pose as a justice of the peace, who also knew how to forge marriage certificates. When Triple H found out the day of the wedding, he had her break up the ceremony. Mark asked his contact if the man said why Triple H went through all of this. As far as he could tell, Triple H wanted to get back at Glen for putting his hands on him plus the fact Triple H had wanted her for himself. Mark thought back to how Glen had seen Triple H corner Melissa and how Glen had put his hands on Triple H's throat. He knew that Triple H had never cared for Glen in the first place as Glen was slowly getting more popular with the crowd. Mark knew that when Glen found out the truth, he would literally try to kill Triple H and it would take an army to stop him. Mark asked did the man say where the woman lived. His contact said yeah and gave him the address. After getting off the phone, Mark sat back in the chair. To go through all of this for revenge, Triple H had to have lost his marbles. He left the lounge to look for Glen. Glen was sitting in the locker room in his usual spot, away from every one, his mind on Melissa. Where could she have gone? How were she and the baby doing? Glen bent over, putting his head in his hands as he again pictured what their life would have been like. He didn't hear Mark come in. Mark saw his friend bent over, knowing his mind was on Melissa.

"Glen."

No response.

"Hey, Glen. Snap out of it. I have some news for you."

 Glen slowly looked up.

"This whole situation didn't sound right to me so I got in contact with some friends of mine and had them look around to see what they could find out. Just now I got a call from one of them. It was all an elaborate scheme. Do you remember signing an autograph for a woman?"

Glen thought back.

"No, not that I can remember right off hand."

"You must have because when you put your stuff down to sign, your water bottle was switched for one that had been spiked. That's why you don't remember anything. My contact said that the woman was hired to pose as your wife and the man a fake justice of the peace. It seems that he also was able to forge the marriage certificate. Somehow they got you to a motel and made it look like you and her were on your honeymoon. Do you remember anything at all?"

"It did seem kind of weird because I woke up in my hotel room, but I didn't remember going there. I just thought I was extra tired."
"I know also who was behind all this, but you can't go off half-cocked because we have to have the evidence with us."

"Who was it?"
"Triple H."
Glen sat there for a bit, then he began to shake, his fists opening and closing. He started to get up and go out the locker room, but Mark stopped him.
"Hold it, Glen. I told you not to go off half-cocked. We have to have the evidence with us." Glen calmed down.

"I have the woman's address.
Let's go."

part 2 of 43
The woman was sitting in her apartment enjoying a glass of whiskey. Triple H would be coming by to bring that "extra" reward he talked about. All day she had prepared for this, going to a little wayout shop off the square and buying the "extra" stuff she knew he liked. She could hardly wait as she sat there thinking of all the fun things they could do. A loud banging brought her out of her daydream.

"It couldn't be him already."

She carefully opened the door. The door was pushed in, knocking her backward to the floor. She started to crawl backward as she saw the two giants standing above her. Glen picked her up by the neck.

"Hold it, Glen. We need to get her to the arena in one piece."

Glen released his hold around her neck.

"You're damn lucky I don't break your neck for what you did. Now, tell me why you did it?"

"Triple H said for me to get a phony certificate and justice of the peace. I was to walk in during the ceremony and show it to the bride. That's all."

"How did my signature get there?"

"You don't remember, but some months ago I asked for your autograph. When you put down your bag and water to sign, Triple H switched water bottles, replacing yours with one that was spiked. We put you in my car and took you to a nearby motel and took pics of you and I together in bed. That was just in case she didn't believe me. It didn't take much for Triple H to convince the man to pose as a phony justice of the peace and say that he was the one who married us, plus he also made the phony certificate, using your real signature."

 "Where is it?"

"It's in the drawer. "

"Where do we find the phony justice?"

"I'll take you to him."
Twenty minutes later they were at the man's house. When he opened the door, he nearly fainted as he saw her with Mark and Glen. Glen wanted to ring the man's scrawny neck but remembered what Mark said. Taking the man by the arm they all got back in Mark's car and went to the arena. Mark and Glen were not scheduled to wrestle that night, so they put the two in a small closet, locking the door so they couldn't get out. The guys went back to the locker room and waited for Triple H to be through with his match, which was the last of the night.

chapter 44
Glen and Mark waited till the show was over and most of the crew had left. They went in the locker room and found Triple H getting dressed along with a few of the other wrestlers. Glen couldn't contain himself. He ran over to Triple H and grabbed him by the neck, hoisting him up. Triple H's face began to turn red.

"What's your problem, masked retard?" he choked out.

"Glen, put him down," Mark said. Glen looked at Mark, who nodded his head. Before he put him down, he threw Triple H against the locker room wall. Triple H looked at the both of them, rubbing his neck.

All the wrestlers were looking at Glen and Mark. "What gives?"

"It seems Triple H planned a scheme to break up Glen and Melissa. He hired a woman, who was his old girlfriend, and some man, to pose as Glen's wife and phony justice of the peace, who forged the fake marriage certificate. Then had her go to the chapel and break up the wedding. The fake certificate was a good copy as they actually did have Glen's signature, but they transferred it to the certificate. The woman had Glen sign an autograph. While Glen was distracted, he (pointing to Triple H) switched water bottles. The second bottle contained a drug that knocked him out. They took him to a motel where they took pictures of the two of them on their supposed honeymoon. Before that he had an old friend of his tail Glen to find out where Melissa lived."

"That's bullshit!" Triple H snapped. " And if I did, what proof do you have?"

Glen went to choke him, but Mark held him back.

"Come on, retard! I ain't afraid of you!" Triple H sneered.

"Shut up!" Mark snapped, looking at Triple H. "I just might let him go ahead. Glen, go get the proof."

Glen left the locker room and went to the closet and unlocked the door.

"Come on you two. And if you know what's good for you, you'll tell the truth."

Glen took the both of them by the arm back to the locker room.

Triple H began to get nervous when he saw his old girlfriend and the man enter the locker room, but quickly tried to hide it.

"Okay, you two, start talking," Mark said.

Trembling, the woman told everyone there the whole story; of how it was all planned down to the last detail. Triple H was breathing fast.

"I've never seen these two before. This is all a piece of shit!" he babbled out.
"Why would I want to do that?" The woman eyed him, "Because you wanted her for yourself. That's what you told me. You couldn't believe that he could get someone to go for him, and that she ignored you."

Glen lost it. He picked up Triple H by the throat and threw him against the wall. Triple H ran out of the locker room, Glen right behind. Mark and the rest of the wrestlers ran after them. Glen caught Triple H before he could open the outside door. Swinging him around, Glen began beating him with lefts and rights, backing him up to a steel door, beating him down to the floor. Triple H saw a sledgehammer nearby. He went to pick it up, but Mark kicked it out of his reach. Glen then put his hands around his throat and began to choke him. Triple H was beginning to turn blue. It took Mark and all the wrestlers there to get him off of Triple H, who went unconscious.

"Glen, he's not worth going to jail over. Right now you have to clear your head and look for Melissa. As for these two, the faster they get out of town, the better their chances of surviving are."

Glen shook his head to clear his mind. He was breathing fast as Mark steered him back to the locker room. The man and the woman took the hint and ran out of there as fast as they could. Mark handed Glen the brown envelope. Glen shredded it then threw the pieces into the garbage can. A couple of the guys went to pick up Triple H, but Glen grabbed him and carried him over to a dumpster and shoved him into it. He picked up one of the large cans of fresh garbage and dumped it on him, then closed the lid.

Glen went into the locker room.

"You're right, Mark. He's not worth going to jail over. But where do I start to look for Melissa. Nobody knows where she went; her two friends don't know, the company doesn't know. I'm back to square one. I know I'll have hell to pay when Vince finds out, but it will be worth it."

Melissa had decided she had had enough of the islands. She had kept the lease on her apartment and decided to go back. She wanted to be close to Beth and Marsha when it was time. She had also decided to try to talk to Glen to see what could be done about clearing up this mess. But would he talk to her?

When she entered the apartment she plopped on the couch exhausted. The trip and the luggage had worn her out. Picking up the phone, she called Beth.

"'Lissa! Oh my God! Where are you?"

"I'm back at the apartment."

"Stay right there! I'll call Marsha and we'll be right over!"

"I hardly think I'm in any condition to go anywhere right now."

A half hour later the girls were at Melissa's. After hugging each other, Melissa explained where she had gone and why. "I came back because I missed this place and I wanted to be here when the time came." She hesitated. "Have you heard from Glen?"

"The last time we heard from him was a couple of months ago. He and I talked on the phone. I believe him 'Lissa."

Melissa hung her head. "I had a lot of time to think about it. I should have believed him instead of telling him to leave. I should have helped him to find out the truth."

"They're coming to town in a couple of days. We're going to the show."

"Do you mind if I come along?"

"Do you think you should?"

"Yes, Beth, I should. I have to find a way to see if he will talk to me and perhaps we can get things straightened out. For all of my so-called brains, I'm pretty stupid."

"I don't think you did any different than any other woman would have done. Now, let's get you to bed so you can rest.
